Root What is the newest and most stable ROM?

Try Galnet MIUI. Camera works if you set the focus to infinity. Not much dev going on now tho (no weekly builds) DT dev going into ICS version of MIUI.

Some nice eye candy, some of the performance of ICS due to the ICS framework, but won't run any ICS apps yet. You'll need to wipe data and be on 602/605 tho.

I like a lot of what Galnet MIUI had going, but I ran into loads of force closes. And I definitely had a lot of serious problems with actually using my device as a phone. The phone app wouldn't even come up half the time my phone rang.
This month is my upgrade month, and I think I am just going to switch to the Nexus. Doesn't seem to be anything in the Verizon pipeline right now that can beat the Nexus.

for my DX i used about all the ginger bread roms and like S.S DX 2.2 the best and MIUI ics since you can customize everything of course.
S.S DX on my phone is the most stable and fastest on processes i really
like MIUI as a change to the phone but my opinion for my phone is S.S DX 2.2 isn't the newest but certainly does work smoothly for me.:p

Can't find anything typing S.S DX 2.2 onto Google. Can you link me to the dev page?

Even though you're asking about ICS ROMS I have to mention [LIQUID GB ROM]Liquid Gingerbread v3.1 as I gave it a test drive this weekend. I have been running LIBERTY 3 for the last 3 months and just felt like mixing it up. I tried [SSX ROM]SSX 2.2 for a few hours but ultimately felt like is was missing something. LIBERTY spoiled me so I was expecting to try a few ROMS and return to LIBERTY 3 after the weekend. I have not gone back to LIBERTY expect to stay on Liquid Gingerbread v3.1 for a while. It looks like my test drive turned into a sale!

Man, I love the X even after all this time ;)

Thanks for the help guys.

What are the exact steps to flashing one of those two above ROMs. I'm not new to rooting or Romming but I've been out of the game forever. Right now I am on System Version 4.5.605 Android Version 2.3.3 Baseband Version BC_P_01.09.13P Build Number 4.5.1_57_DX5-35.

I also have the regular Droid 2 bootstrap installed. Do I need to do anything other than the classic, wipe and flash for 2nd init Roms?

Thanks,
irm

Attempted to install this update last night over a previous CM7 build and bootlooped. I'm having zero luck with this phone lately. I was smart enough this time to nandroid before installing this, thankfully.

Which CM7 build are you currently on? If you're on the official builds from the Cyanogenmod website, then you're operating on the Froyo kernel, which doesn't work on the builds posted at the Rootzwiki site. You'll need to be on a Gingerbread kernel that comes with system .602 or .605 (no functional difference between the two). If you need to, SBF to .602 or .605 using your method of choice, re-root, then install the ROM again. Do not take the .621 update if you're prompted to do so.

If you are already on the .602 or .605 kernel, then check the MD5 of your download. It's possible it got corrupted, which would result in a bootloop when you try to install.

I'm on the .605 kernel. Currently running the Pooka 2/22 version. It should have easily upgraded to the latest version but for some reason I was bootlooping. I was able to wipe data and it installed but I did not have the time last night (or the energy) to reinstall all of my settings and data from scratch. I have TiBu but it still takes quite a bit of tweaking getting things up and running again, especially with the amount of widgets I have on my home screens that never reinstall correctly.

So does anyone know if this latest version of CM9 now has a working camera? I would LOVE to try this out. But I need the camera - it's the only one I own these days!

Wow, been through all the ROMs ***Official Droid X Theme & Rom List*** (updated 3/10/12) over the last few days and think I may stick with the unofficial CM7. Once CM9 enters the next stage I'll definitely shift to it as the ICS interface is a beauty eh?

S T A B L E... Y E S

To many decisions :D

Did I mention I'M STILL LOVING THE X

EDIT: CM9 camera works... kinda. It takes some tweaking with the build.prop but you do not have the stock app. It's real close and that's ultimately why I shifted back to CM7.

What is the "reboot menu to get back into clockwork?"

So CM7 or CM9?!?

"ClockworkMod – also known as Clockwork and CWM – is a custom recovery for Android phones and tablets that allows you to perform several advanced recovery, restoration, installation and maintenance operations on your Android device that aren’t possible with the stock recovery."

Rom Manager is a clockworkMod application. Launch and choose Reboot into recovery or hold power and choose Reboot. You will get three options, Reboot, Recovery or Bootloader.

I recommend waiting until CM9 camera is officially working if you need a camera. Otherwise go for it. IT'S A BEAUTY!
