I found a Moto car dock for the Maxx, but it comes with charger and such. $60 on Amazon. These things keep getting more expensive.
I don't need the charger or aux cord. Can I get this Moto dock without those accessories?
Thanks in advance.

PS - If you found a moto dock for under $60, let me know too.

If you want to be cheap and do what I'm doing.. you can do this.

Get this car mount:

Newegg.com - Rosewill RCGP-11001 Universal Dashboard & Window Mount for Cell Phone, iPhone, GPS, MP3

Then download one of the many free car dock apps out there. Use your own power cord.

I have that same mount for my GPS minus the phone holder and it's wonderful. Heavy turns it doesn't move an inch. Best of all, it doesn't make a mark on your window thus less chance of a thief putting one and one together and know you're hiding something in your glove box.

If you're gonna go with a non powered mount, then I'll recommend the arkon mobile grip with sticky dash / windshield / console mount. I've used it with various phones, with and without cases; it's probably my favorite mount ever.

Mobile Grip Removeable Sticky Dash & Console Mount

For $18.00, it's hard to find something better. They have regular windshield suction cup mounts, too.

Yeah, I don't remember seeing it on the site either but when I was in a corporate store they had one specifically for the maxx and it fits perfectly.

It's not specific to the maxx, it's a razr one, and it had a clear sticker on the box that said something like works with maxx.

You change the plastic backing with the alternative supplied one and it fits great.

Not so sure it will work with a case, probably not.

EDIT: you are right, it's specific for the MAXX, it was the desktop dock that I just described, not the car dock!

Thanks man - that looks awesome! I have such a hard time justifying $60 for a freaking car mount from Motorola. After watching the video, this looks like a great solution!

Thanks for the tip, this is exactly what I've been looking for! And I just got the last one from Amazon :D

This does look good. I've been using several cheap vent-type holders, and they never stay in. I've been trying to avoid the window mounts because they just bake my phone in the sun. This looks like it comes out over the vents which would keep it out of direct sun...

Yeah, that's why I like it. You can adjust the arm to be near vent level or above the dash, depending on where you like it. And it's easy to get the phone in and out.

Just ordered it. Thanks again.

UPDATE: It arrived but I really didn't do a good job of making sure this was the best for my Traverse. My dash is textured/curvy all over and it doesn't grip at all, or the top of the dash has a giant lid for storage. I have no other choice but to use the window. I have it in the extreme lower left side of the window and it seems to be out of the sun light for the most part.

I guess ultimately, a vent-grabber system would be best for me...
