Eris to v2.x, when?

I was actually thinking about rubbing it in the faces of the VZW store employees tomorrow. Gotta go there for some other business, but I wanna walk in there and ask the same girl I asked a month ago "when's 2.1 coming?" and she'll say, again, "oh, 1.6 was just pushed out, 2.0 should be out next week." I'll kick her in the throat, flash her the firmware version, and walk out.

Damn VZW people.

LOL

Screw all that, just kick her in the throat for having told you that in the first place! :D

Duplicate post from XDA. Just thought I would ask this audience too.

Hey guys. I have seen some people claiming better signal but in my case normal the signal is fine but when i send a text message to someone the signal drops the second i click send the cell signal craps out and the message say it didn't get sent, and has a red x. I have to try to send it a few times then it goes. Anyone else got any signal drop issues? BTW I have done *228 to update roaming capabilities.

PS this only happens about %5 of the time so its workable. Just wondering if anyone else got it.

no one thanked me for posting the "How To" that CaptainKrtek made here on AF =[
it is the reason most users now have the leaked 2.1 here

but I'm glad at how well the leak is working =]

Sounds like begging for attention. Attention and Thank hunters aren't pretty, let me tell you. But I did gather this info from you last night. And I appreciate it.

Ok...I said I would stay away from the forums for a week but was really bored in class today. So I saw 2.1 leaked. Well, I'm no fool, I DL'd that real quick and tonight I installed. It's great.

Pros:

Real fast, responsive (without tactile vibration), and intuitive. I would say a more enhanced version of 1.5 w/sense.

Anyone who is holding out, go for it. You can downgrade if you don't like it.

Cons:

I don't care what anyone says I like the tactile response with typing. Unfortunately it's VERY laggy with it on. With it off, it's super responsive but I'm still used to my vibration.

No animated wallpaper. Guess that will be in the OTA.

Instructions:

1. DL the zip files
2. put it on your SD card, (not in a folder, just e,f,d,h,i:\)
3. turn off
4. hold power+call button
5. press volume down key to HBOOT
6. press the track ball
7. press the track ball again
8. wait
9. wait
10. 2.1 w/sense BAM!

How do you down-grade back to 1.5 if things don't work out? Also, I am concerned the 'few' paid apps I have will not be available to download again? Does it erase these apps when you install 2.1? Just a little nervous, never done this before.

noob here, needing help getting this download to work. any takers?

To quote Caddyman some pages back:

If you have a spare SD card I would use that. It needs to be formatted FAT32. Plus you don't want to possibly mess with any of your files on your current card. Also, you will lose any currently installed programs. So you may wanna make a list so you can redownload them.

Copy the file to the root of the card.

Power off phone.

With phone off, press volume down and power at the same time.

Phone will boot into HBOOT mode (white background/green text).

Blue text will come up asking if you want to update.

Click the trackball to select.

The phone will go through some stuff and come back with update complete. It may take up to 10 minutes.

It will prompt you to reboot, click the trackball and the phone will reboot.

Go here to get the link to the file: thekrtek.net

Its a good thing I got to you first, some other posters would eat you alive for asking such a ridiculous question on post # 3122.

I installed 2.1 earlier this afternoon and so far, I have seen no issues other than with Handcent... My paid apps were still available for download (they show "purchased") so you should be good there.

Your concerns are serious enough to reconsider installing this leaked/rogue update, in my opinion.

I have not installed it and won't, preferring to await the arrival of the official Over The Air update.

I urge all who are considering this installation to read in the "2.1 bugs and fixes" thread and this thread thoroughly first, not just for instructions, but to come to an understanding as to what you are doing to your device.

Some, obviously, are very happy with the 2.1 leaked update. Many are having issues, some serious and some merely requiring more knowledge or a tweak or workaround.

It's the serious ones that bother me. Also, it is not an official update to the device I officially purchased with official money. ;)

Can we go back and just see how many times this question has been asked and answered? NKT-hang in there it all be over soon....then you can relax, take a breath....Where's our kitten killer when we need em.:D This all happening so fast, when I get on, I have to catch up by reading 5 pages, I love it...thanks for all you and the others...Cadd-man, everyone else...thanks for all you've done....Just envision hundreds of droid lovers surrounding you guys, all patting you on the back for a job well done...Hope you're not claustrophobic with all those people trapping you in...take care..thanks again:cool:

I know, I should have edited that post. But with people coming in, asking the SAME thing 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times got to me. If they'd take the time to atleast try to read some of the thread, they would see that their questions have been answered, and answered, and answered and answered. All their posts do is clog up the thread making it worse for people trying to talk about new issues.

Anyways, goooooooosss-fraba

I agree, but at some level you can't put it all on them. The vast majority of posts here are self congratulations, smart a$$ comments and ametuerish speculation. It's hard to weed through all this and find useful, consistent information.
