[Verizon] [KERNEL][4.0.4] Franco M4 & Nightlies (6/5)

Soooo I rescind my previous statement... I'm glad I stuck with Franco 18.2 for a couple extra days, because the other day I was able to eek out an extremely respectable 2hrs 45mins of screen time and real usage, including videos, music, and games, all on wifi. Stock 4.0.4 here's the proof

I noticed that Franco changed his recommended color values in the latest Milestone, specifically to much smaller values (old values were 229, 262, 307; new values are 180, 192, 200). Does anyone recall him saying why the values were dropped? I ask because while I like the old settings (they were very "cool" colors, with whiter whites), I am concerned that with such a high value for blue (307), the screen's ability to display blue may wear down prematurely. This concern is based on literature that states that with OLED displays, the blue sub pixels have the shortest lifespan.

Did Franco mention anything about this?

I don't, but I can take a good guess as to why. Every screen is different you need to use what is best to your eyes :)

As far as the screen or any part of it "burning out" you might have a valid concern. Also with the values so high, there might be more of a chance for screen burn-in/image retention.

I've been doing some really interesting experimentation with these color multi's and gamma settings hopefully I can come to some sort of conclusion and post my results in the coming days!

Guys, I just flashed Franco 110 nightly and I don't see the Turtle governor. How does one enable this option? Attached screen print. Also, is anyone undervolting and what are your recommended mV settings for the different CPU frequencies?

Franco removed Turtle back around 89 or so. Or was it 94? Hell I can't remember. In any case, he suggests OnDemand for optimal battery life.

Any suggestions on an application (preferably free) to use with this kernel.

I just use setcpu (for a slight underclock), but nofrills is free. Depends on what you want to do with the kernel. You can dnld francos app and really tweak to your hearts content.

My kernel super tweaking days are over, I just run it and go :) That is what I want from a kernel. As few bells and whistles as possible, something I can flash and know that it will run right whether I tweak a parameter or not.

I have found this to be the case with M2 and I highly recommend it!

could someone explain the different govenors on M3? i mean what is lazy, i knw hotplug kill core1 when the screen in off but lazy?
I found this from our mild mannered friend Google. It may help you

How is m3 treating you so far?
It is presently (and somewhat 'pastly') my choice of kernel for the GN. Love it

Sweet gonna check it out. Thanks!

If you feel like sticking it out (I see a lot of people install it and they just don't give it a chance for one reason or another then uninstall it...), give it 2 charge cycles. The 1st day with M3 I was "meh maybe I should go back to M2" (which is awesome as well). The next day I was "yeah!"

I don't know what it is about letting a kernel "settle" or whatever one wants to call it, but I believe

I hear you and definitely will give it a go for a few days. Curious why you don't run hot plug and chose interactive?

Thanks again man!

After everything I've read by those who know a million percent more than I do about kernels I believe hotplugging is unnecessary. Just my opinion.

Interactive is the most responsive governor in my experience.

edit: mean to say running hotplug governor!
