My phone worked fine. It is a Droid X. I did a corporate sync the other day, and it caused the notification bar at the top of the phone to disappear. You know, that bar that shows you icons for your battery life, if you have a text msg, or email, etc. Its gone.

Of course verizon and motorola tech support couldnt help. What I do know, is if I power off the phone, the notification bar comes back, but only for a little while. Then goes away again. Anyone know how to fix this??

Thanks!

Did you try rebooting your phone? If that doesn't work try wiping cache partition in stock recovery. To do that power off your phone and press your hardkey home button and hold it in. Then press and hold in the power button and continue holding both buttons in till you see a triangle on the screen then release the buttons. Next press both volume buttons in at the same time. That will get you in stock recovery. Then scroll down with your volume button to where it says wipe cache partition and select it with your power button. Then select yes to wipe cache. Once cache wipe is complete just select reboot system.

Is wiping the cache partition the same thing as a hard reset? I do not want to lose my contacts / apps / etc.. takes forever to get all that stuff back on the phone and properly functioning.

I think you meant "factory reset," rather than a "hard reset." A hard reset would never erase your contacts, apps, etc, while a factory reset would. And no, wiping cache is not the same thing as a factory reset. "Wiping cache" is erasing all cache memory, whereas a factory reset would be erasing all internal memory. It's healthy to erase cache every now and then, as doing so deletes unnecessary information from your phone, and allows your RAM to not work on unnecessary tasks.

Personally, I would try a hard reset first (turn off phone, remove battery, put battery back in place, reboot). If your notification bar still isn't present after a hard reset, move on to wiping your cache (after wiping cache, you should notice more responsive performance!).

I am having the exact same issue. Droid X, no custom launcher, no custom ROM. Everything works fine until I add a corporate sync account. Once I add a corporate sync account, my notification bar will disappear in 15-30 minutes and the incoming call notification is gone - no green slider, no red slider, and no caller ID.

It also kills my battery life. I used to be able to go 18 hours without charging, now I have to charge it after 6 hours. We used to use TouchDown before we changed email systems, and I had no problems with TouchDown.

Rebooting the phone solves it for about 20 minutes, then the same problem shows back up.

Since I have a World of Warcraft and a Gmail authenticator on this phone, I'd rather avoid the hassle of a factory reset. Any other ideas?

I'm having the exact same issue on my Droid X, I'm not running any launcher apps just basic Gmail. I havent changed anything on the phone lately, the issue just started a couple days ago out of the blue. When I turn the phone on the notification bar shows up for a few minutes then dissappears. I still get a audio notificaiton that I have a new email or text but have no idea what it is and have to go hunt to figure out if it was an email or a text. When I get phone calls I dont get the usual display when option to answer, I have to drill down to contacts to answer the call. This is really frustrating and really is hurting my ability to use my phone.
