My Verizon Loyalty promo!!

So today I get home from work and find a letter from V with the words "Loyalty Discount" showing through the plastic window! Well I of course get excited and rip it open only to be insulted and pissed. After the "Free Nexus" nexus fiasco I was hoping for something descent. Verizon has been kind enough to extend me a loyalty discount of $9.99 for 2 months for each phone on my plan(3). This would come out to roughly a $60 credit. OK I can handle that, after all it's better then nothing. Next line says that to get the discount each line would have to extend it's contract 1yr. Give me a break. I am about to call the number on the letter and let them know what how I feel about their loyalty discount!!

yeah.. something like that should come with no strings attached.. that's insulting.

Yeah, I agree. Many business just give you money for being "loyal" customers. As a matter of fact, I been buying Chrysler/Dodge cars for over 20 years. (prety loyal don't you think?) Just last week they just out of the blue sent me a check for $1,000.00 for being so loyal.

Wait, I just found out the only place I can cash the check is at a Chrysler dealer when I purchase a new car!!!! Those B*stards!!!!

Isn't fun the best thing to have?

To the OP, when you saw the words "loyalty DISCOUNT", what made you think that meant money off your bill with nothing in reurn on your part?

if it's a LOYALTY discount, why would they have you extend your contract? you've already proven you're a loyal customer, what would make them think you'd drop them for someone else? does that make sense? being given a loyalty discount with the requirement of extending your contract seems kind of contradictory to me.. like they don't trust you.

at&t will give out loyalty discounts every now and again, most recently was 1,000 minutes credited to your acct with no strings attached.

Or you could look at the other side of the coin. Since your so loyal and aren't thinking of leaving why wouldn't you want to extend your contract to get the extra discount? Your upgrade date would remain the same.

Those 1,000 minutes that AT&T provides cost them virtually nothing and most people aren't going to use them anyway. I'm already on the lowest minute plan and never come close to going over so they are worthless to me. $60 in discounts is real money, big difference.

Anyway, VZW isn't your friend, they are a for profit business, like it or not shareholder interests come first. The sooner we all realize that the better.

I got offered that one too,Verizon is really learning how to piss off its customers.
I have 2 phones out of contract, and 2 eligible for upgrades now what will be out of contract in July. Thinking about going to another carrier just because of this insult.

Did you not read the post a few posts back? If you take the money and extend your contract, you don't lose your upgrade status. The added year doesn't matter because you'll renew your contract when you choose to upgrade your phone anyway. Take the money!

The thing is two of the phones on my plan are used by my very elderly parents and I don't want to be locked in a contract with these lines in case something were to happen to one of them, and its just the way Verizon tries to seek the contract extensions past you that ticks me off.

So what you're saying is that should your "elderly" parents happen to live another 6 or 7 years or more.... (could happen) you will still have them using the same phones they have now? Because should something happen, (pass away I'm guessing you're referring to) you don't want to be "stuck" with an ETF?

#1. I'm guessing their last retirement or So Sec check should cover it, or if not,

#2. My mother passed away about 6 years ago and when we called T-Mobile, (not Verizon) and explained the situation and provided a copy of the death certificate, they cancelled her phone contract with no extra charges or fees incurred.

C'mon, it's your parents. Wouldn't they do as much for you?

i dont think they even require a death certificate any more.. when i worked for at&t, if someone called in and reported someone deceased, we could cancel the account/line without etf and without requiring any proof from them.

I would expect this from any company.

I still fail to see the insult in the offer. They are offering to allow you to pay less for a period of time for you to agree to extend your time with the company. It sounds like they are being up front about it as well so if you plan on staying with VZW for a while then I see no reason not to use it.

It doesn't take more than a few brain cells to read the offer and understand that you'll be extending your contract. Nothing sneaky about it. I don't like how BestBuy tries to fatten their CEO's wallet by trying to sell me extended warranties but that doesn't mean I'm not going to shop there.

It doesn't take more than a few minutes to read the Site Rules & Guidelines (they're linked in my sig). That sort of attitude isn't cool :(.

Attack issues, not other members please.

I'm not implying that dautley is stupid. They obviously read the offer and understood that a contract extension is required or else they wouldn't have accused VZW of trying to sneak it in.

In regards to the brain cells comment. I was just simply mocking the general population that doesn't take the time to read their agreements and then blame others for their mistake. At worst it was a poor attempt at humor (because people didn't get it), but it certainly wasn't a personal attack.
