ICS - any issues for you?

- Browser doesn't launch anymore
- Google Play doesn't download any app
- Frequent resets while doing settings (especially account settings)

I'm actually quite pissed of, Samsung totally ****ed up my 500e phone, thanks. The morning the update arrived, a dialog said "Software upgrade required.", so I upgraded, and now the phone is defunct, gr8.

When upgrading firmware, there is always a risk of the old firmware remnants clashing with the new and it can cause all sort of problems. That is why it is recommended that you do a full cache wipe and factory reset of the phone after the update. Even upgrading from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 caused some issues for me at the start. What more changing from GB to ICS.

Try a factory reset / wipe first, and see if the problems go away. If it doesn't then you can always go back to the service provider to get them to fix it. (That is if yours is an official Kies update).

Generally I've had no problems with ICS. But it's not very snappy anymore and feels sluggish. Need a few updates,

not sure what his issue is but mine doesnt work period. Worked on gingerbread fine before the upgrade and now doesnt. GPS service starts but doesnt ever find a signal

exactly. this is what i mean too. when im in gingerbread i can use the gps. and now. it is always says waiting for driving directions forever!

It's always a good idea to backup before doing anything like this.

However, in my excitement/haste to upgrade this morning I forgot to do so.
No problem. All my contacts, apps., etc. were still on board.

any of you guys facing any problems with the stock email client?

my widget seems to freeze everytime my phone's on idle. and I can't seem to connect to hotmail! also my push service isn't working...

would a factory reset help?

Took me a while to get hotmail to load on stock email, but just keep on trying to sync it and it works. Eventually :rolleyes:

Dont think a reset would make any difference.

The issue with me is....1) Even if i activate lock screen in settings...I don't get lock screen after i come out of sleep. 2) I don't get menu if press right hand side button of phone.... like silent, flight mode...etc....Plzz help

I upgraded last night and left phone on charge. This morning the battery only lasted 4 hours with no usage, normally I get around 16 with moderate usage. This is very worrying!

Also it lost one of my two personal email accounts completely.

I didn't like the way it completely re-organised my applications either, took ages to put them back.

I would suggest looking at what apps are active (using the task manager can show the CPU use) as that is completely mental! With what id consider reasonably high use I managed 2 days with relative ease!

A wipe of all data (factory reset) may also fix any issues, it will mean reinstalling a lot of stuff but at least it will likely work right!

Have you had any problems with portable hotspot function? On the version I istalled of ICS, I sometimes wasn't able to turn it on and I had to reset the device.

I also found another thing that although it's not an actual issue, I found annoying: when I texted an SMS message and hit send, the keypad wouldn't change back to ABC if I was in 123 mode...

And for the last, since Samsung Social Hub only synced calendar and messages, contacts in whatsapp wouln't have any picture at all... But I suppose this is Facebook's App problem because when it syncs contacts, it doesn't actually add the picture to the contact, it only joins it to the facebook user and whatsapp only reads the contact stored in the device.

Has anyone had any of these problems?

I've had the same problem with the GPS. No matter what I do it just will NOT work. It worked fine on Gingerbread.

Another issue - I never liked the stock headphones so I bought HTC Incredible S ones with controls so I could forward a song and stuff easier. They used to work perfectly but now, every time I try to use the controls instead of moving songs up and down my playlist it puts the volume up and down. But this isn't that much of an issue for me. The GPS is my major issue. Also since the update I've had 4 grashes resulting in my phone rebooting itself, always to do when I am switching off the Wi-Fi or data connection. Hope they come up with solution fast !!!

Not had any problems with GPS. Updated to XXLPQ via ODIN without factory reset.

Have noticed the change in behaviour of the headset controls as well. I do use the HTC headset as well. However, I see it as a benefit being able to control the volume using the forward / back buttons now. I double click the play button to skip forward and triple click to skip back instead. I don't use the stock music player, but use Mort instead, which is free and much better!

For the people having trouble with HTC headphones and audio in general, if you are rooted, you could try the beats audio HTC driver port. This should in theory fix the control issues and will almost certainly improve sound quality.

Hi guys, mine is that when i go and need to type in a message and want to bring up the cursor, it doesn't show until i have written something already.

And when the cursor is up, there's no longer a "select word" and "select all" option so i can't copy anything. I only have the "paste" and "clipboard" option.

Help please.

The only issue I seem to have is my emails take a lot longer to recieve, I used to get them virtually instantley with gingerbread

I get the same thing, just noticed today....

anyone got an idea what might be causing this?

Wifi works fine etc..seems like my push function on work email/gmail don't work well.

Hi Everyone,

I upgraded my Galaxy s2 with ICS via kies. After upgrade i am not bale to play the HD games.. like splinter cell..creed assassins etc.. i am getting error like ... unfortunately the game is stopped ..

Does ICS support HD games or not ?

Please help me.

Hi, i've had the problem a lot of people have had where since upgrading to ICS my SG2 has had a number of issues, mainly crashing & freezing.

This has been going on for weeks but now sometimes when it happens the handset gets red hot, almost too much to touch. This can't be ok, any ideas what to do?

I spoke to the Guru in my local O2 store as he's very good and he said Samsung are supposedly releasing a patch to sort the issues but he didn't know when. He also said it's probably not worth doing a factory reset as it's not guaranteed to fix the problem. I don't want to do it if when I backup and reset it doesn't restoring all my apps etc. if i'm still going to have the same issues. Any tips?
