Hey all.

Phone died yesterday.

Was sat on my desk, I picked it up and pressed the power the button to wake it and nothing happened. Pulled the battery, replaced and rebooted and it froze on splash screen. Did same and went into recovery and it died, just went blank. When I plug it in I get no charging light.

Anyone else had this? Is it common? This is my 3rd DS in 7 months so bit peeved!! (first had dodgy power button, second kept crashing/rebooting).

Took it to CPW who have sent it to their repair centre (or more likely HTC) so am now awaiting news.

Cheers.

It does happen. There's always a risk when pulling a battery from a phone that's on.

You probably didn't have much of an alternative if your phone was unresponsive, but if the phone was on at the time you did the battery pull, that might have bricked it.

Although safer, waiting until you can be sure there's no juice left in the battery could take a couple of days.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I guess I could have waited (phone had 90% ish charge though so could have taken an age). It had misbehaved the previous day - had another freeze that also required a battery pull, so I assume it had an ongoing issue anyway.

Will hopefully hear before too long. Google shows a few people have had an identical issue and the phone comes back from HTC with a new main board.
