Help Questions/Problems with extended battery (Nexus OEM 2100mAh vs QCell 3850mAh)

Hey all,

I've been using the Samsung extended battery on my Nexus (2100 mAh) and recently picked up the Qcell 3850 mAh. To my surprise, I'm barely noticing much difference ... in fact, at times, I feel like it's draining even faster. I've been purposely doing very little on my phone and watching my "battery left widget" to get a basis for comparison, and they're really not that far off from one another.

I've conditioned the battery twice, no change.

Is there something I'm missing here? Does the phone not recognize the full capacity of this battery or something?

Thank you

So, a couple things:

- First of all, non-OEM batteries are notorious for over-rating the capacity of their cells, anywhere from 20-40%.

- Second, the phone will always use the full capacity, but it takes one or two full charge/discharge cycles before the phone's estimation of the amount left will be somewhat accurate.

- Also, Battery Left has a number of different measurement metrics. Make sure you're not using one of the "estimated" battery metrics like "hours remaining" or something.

Strange, I got me a 3800mAh battery, Ive noticed a massive, Massive difference!

I took my phone off charge yesterday morning at 6:30am ... I still haven't re-charged it yet and its still got 53% battery left, Its now 1:00pm the next day.

I mean that's average usage, Facebook, Twitter, Texting, The odd phone call, Browsing the app market & some internet usage all on 3G network, I was playing dead space on my device last night too for a good 20 mins.

Maybe the battery you bought is defective?

Just curious, did you splurge on the Seidio one or buy one of the cheap ones?

I picked one up for $8, because I figure you can't go far wrong for $8, and I won't use it often enough to justify spending $50 or $60 on the Seidio. It just came in yesterday and I'm still putting it through its paces, so no idea what kind of life it really has.

This right here. I have the Seidio battery. The phone displayed the battery as having about 15% left. I rebooted the phone for something unrelated and it then read the battery at around 50%. The phone definitely does not gauge massive new batteries properly at first it takes time or maybe reboots at partial charges.

This is assuming you have an actual battery. $10 ebay batteries are paperweights.

Clearly that's not always the case if ATOJAR is getting massively more battery with his/her paperweight.

I'm not really sure why it's necessary to be snarky about it.

When you guys are talking about battery sizes and mAh does it make a difference if it's the i9250 or the verizon version. Just curious cause I have the i9250 unlocked international version and my battery life is terrible. I unhooked my phone this morning from being charged all night and after 8 mins of use, my battery percent was 91%. So I have been curious to see where and what batteries I may need to get.

P.S. in those 8 mins I made 1 phone call, threw a few texts and checked Gmail. Display was taking up nearly 64% and the brightness is at the lowest setting and is at 11% brightness. WTH?

I purchased the Qcell 3850 from Amazon for $20 (not only was it $40 cheaper than the Seido, but the plate is also much better looking).

It's been a few days now, and I've seen significant improvements. Over the weekend, I managed to pull ~22 hours with somewhat regular use but primarily running on WiFi for the majority of the day (about 14 hours).

Not sure If It was simply a conditioning or that I was expecting too much, but it appears to be working like a champ now.

Posted this in a different thread, Meant to post in this one, This is in reply to the second post up ...

I plugged mine in on Saturday night, Unplugged Sunday morning at 6:45am fully charged .... I didn't plug it back in until last night(Tuesday)at around 10:45pm ... Its still had 17% battery, That's with average usage too.

That's a massive improvement over the stock battery ... With light usage i could have easily made three days, My phone is still pretty new to me so i have been using it more that usual too.
