since so many of you keep buggi8ng me about not only the link giving you a 404, but asking me when is it coming out etc etc i decided to make it a bit more clear!!!!

here is the pit, and a copy of odin, hopefully it works for you guys worst case we gutta find a newer version

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FLASH

open up odin
make sure re-partition is UNCHECKED
power your phone off
press and hold the following power+volume up+home
you should see downloading
plug your phone into the computer and you shoudl see a yellow com number appear in teh box, like so

load the unsecured kernel into pda slot
click start!

once you have it flashed you have adb shell root, which you can issue the following commands:

adb remount

at which point you have complete r/w access to system and you can then push superuser and su into teh proper spots and have root!

12:53 AM <Shabbypenguin> adb shell chmod 6755 /system/bin/su
12:53 AM <Shabbypenguin> those 3 commands will get you perma root

all credit goes to bliss and hojotogo for the base files, all i did was figure out this phone is set up like teh sgs2 ( eck....) and come to realize that teh way i was trying to open kernels before wasnt workin so well

The key combination is Power + Vol Up + Home, but home may not be necessary, experiment for yourself.

I'm following you all the way up until you push the su and superuser over in adb. I'm not too familiar with how to do that. How do I get into adb?

The kernel link has been removed to be tweaked a lil more. Trust me attain users this is mos def pretty much done..

recovery is a long long way off. im dealing with a kernel setup im unfamiliar with, and that is like NO other phone out thereyou guys have the crappy rfs and bml stuff.. but at teh same time no real recovery partition, its a dual initramfs.. worst part is that you guys got the crap end of both sticks.

im uploaidng kernel source and initramfs rigth now, gunna try to get a few more eyes on it to help me out and see if we cant figure soemthing out.. as it stands however we know odin works just fine and you can restore back to stock ;P

Isn't the indulge set up the same way? I'm not really concerned much with the recovery as long as Odin works, which it clearly does :eek:

recovery just simplifies things.

Ah.. so I take that as its "oh, shit" different rather than "ah, OK" different. Its kinda insane to me how you can figure this stuff out without having the device in hand. Skill I guess lol.

I thought the indulge had the rfs crap too. I'm sure your knowledge on this is far superior to mine though, I dev simple apps, not roms, root scripts and the like. I only have the slightest inkling on how to go about doing what you guys do . I don't know much about modifying the inner workings. I leave that to the more capable lol.

Yeah.. I've got two of the damn things laying around here myself somewhere lol.

I think he was meaning Odin experience though, that we got from using it on the indulge. Like how we used Odin to return to stock etc. Same process on the attain, Odin + pit + tar.

I wouldn't mind an R915 to mess with (I have an R910), but I don't think Shabby has any need for any Indulges. And neither model will help you Attain users at all.
