Help Random Reboots Been Figured Out?

I have not been on the forums in a while, but a couple months ago people were beginning to mention random reboots (some thread about a BGR article sparked the discussion, I think). I dismissed it back then as I had not experienced any reboots. Now, I have begun getting reboots almost daily, oftentimes several times per day. It usually happens when typing a text, email, etc.

The only major thing I've changed is adding Nova Launcher. Any connection to the reboot problem?

Any other cause that's been determined?

Any solution(s)?

It's highly irritating and unacceptable.

Thanks

first of all Go Yankees

secondly i haven't experienced any reboots.

If this just recently started happening to you it could be an app that updated as well that doesn't agree with your phone. Also possibly try removing nova. I'm not saying that is the cause but its good to rule that out.

have you installed any other new apps close to when this started?

It's been going on for about 6 weeks, with the frequency of reboots increasing in the last two or so.

Also installed Android Pro Widgets around 2 months ago and use a few of them.

That sounds similar to my issue, I was getting them more and more often. I flashed the stock 4.0.4 leak, and haven't had an issue since.

I can't root or my corporate email app won't function. When are we getting this 4.0.4? I love this phone, but the lack of updates has been quite disappointing. I thought the perk of having a Nexus device was frequent support.

I, too, am experiencing the same thing. No reboots since launch day and recently the past month, I've been getting a lot of random reboots. Same deal with you, either I'm writing an email or on messenger or whatsapp. Haven't installed anything new recently except some free games off Amazon App. But I don't get reboots on a daily basis though. Maybe like 3 restarts a week. Still annoying when it wasn't happening before.

I still get reboots when I stream Pandora in my car while it's charging. I can stream it all day long without it charging, but if it get's plugged into the power cord then it'll reboot approximately 10-40 mins later.

I also get the occasional reboot when trying to access the camera from the lock screen.

I'm hoping 4.0.5 will resolve these issues.

BTW: Stock/Non-rooted

I was getting multiple auto-shutdowns when I installed the Verizon extended battery.

I went ahead and unlocked the phone, and installed the leaked 4.0.4 hoping that would fix it. That seemed to do the trick.. the up time was a few days... THEN... bam, auto shutdown after auto shutdown.

I took the extended battery out, put the stock battery back in.... no problems since (almost a month).

having this exact issue on my Verizon LG Spectrum, seems to happen street I plug it in even if the battery charge is still good. We just got our first ROM, and I installed it yesterday, no issues yet (this is my third handset, I've returned two so far, once for a battery that would not charge past 48% the other because I found the phone free with free overnight shipping online), wonder if it is a Verizon app? This ROM is crap free, so might be the solution.

I will say that I had been getting a bunch of reboots on my device. Then I rooted, installed AOKP M4 and nothing since then. Of course, I only installed it a week ago, so I'm not going to say that the reboots are gone forever, but its a good sign. Hopefully the OTA drops soon...

On a somewhat related note, isn't it a little depressing that updates to the Nexus have to be carrier-approved, but Apple can just release a new version of iOS when they please? Verizon isn't even involved.

Frustrated as well...

I am stock but running on GO Launcher. I am getting random reboots as well - had 3 today. I leave my phone face up on my desk so I just happen to notice when it's doing it. Only once today did it reboot when I was using it - mid-text message (also using swiftkey). The other 2x didn't bother me.

Though it mostly doesn't disrupt my use....it bothers me that I don't know why its doing it. I'm not going to do a full reboot so there is no need to call VZW for help. I'm too customized with my widgets and screens and GO launcher preferences that I don't want to loose everything. I also hate loosing old texts and game stats (like angry birds). Honestly, I'd love to update but I'm not all of that can be restored easily - without restoring the issue too.

I absolutely love this phone but you need to be tolerant because it has issues. I blow through batteries quickly - even on wifi - the low speaker is frustrating and I get occasional connectivity issues (could be due to JuiceDefender).

I'm jealous of the consistency and product support (accessories) iPhone users experience but could never put up with the lack of customization. Hell...my phone was built with 3 pogos on the side and f'n company never even made a dock to utilize them. That makes no sense at all! Oh well...just venting!
