I have just got a secondhand galaxy s. am impressed but like almost everyone else can't get KIES to work with phone - windows 7 64 bit.
Trolled through web sites and forums without joy, searching for answers. Tried so many suggestions but nothing. Until I found a post relating to MyPhoneExplorer as an alternative for sync and updating and transfering infor between phone and computer. IT WORKS - works with any android phone it says! I am not technical by any means - and a woman to boot!!! but have just added, subtracted,updated info, transfered all sorts, syncd and done a back up of everything on my phone, apps and all. THANK YOU TO THE PERSON WHO POSTED THAT THREAD. only thing can't do is upgrade to latest firmware but already have 2.3.6 on it, so fine for moment. Hope this helps others and stops the total frustration that thousands of us seem to be suffering.
