Help Galaxy Ace - Gingerbread 2.3.5 Update Problem

Since updating the firmware to 2.3.5 through Kies I have been having major problems with the Wifi disconnecting, it then forces the phone to do a reset. It states No Service, then the Service returns, then it runs the media scanner.

This problem has been reported by several people on the Virgin Mobile forums (my service provider) but I trying to work out if this problem is just with the Virgin Mobile version of the upgrade or not.

So if you have upgraded a Galaxy Ace to 2.3.5 please reply with your provider and whether you have the problem.

TIA
SBF

Ever since I upgraded from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 last Monday, I've never had any problems with regards to my wireless connection. BTW, I upgraded mine by flashing through ODIN and not KIES as I feel it's more reliable than the latter. I suggest you flash the same way to avoid any problems. Hope it helps.

My partner and i bought the same phones and we have the exact same issue with both phones, reboots,no service, media scanning sometimes the wifi connects after reboot sometimes it says its connected but it isnt.Does it about every 20-30 minutes. It can happen while making a call, using an app,or even sat idle whether on charge or not.i use the virgin super hub i have tried every channel, every setting on both router and phone. If i go to a mates house i can stay connected to their virgin wifi(not a super hub) all day and night with no reboot as soon as i get home within 30 minutes its rebooted again.
When the phones were running Froyo 2.2.2 they would get the screen of death(sod)having to hold the power button for 10 secs to reboot. Now with 2.3.5 i get this weird reboot thing going on.
If i have some conflict with my router it shouldn't reboot my phone it should just reconnect.Virgin have supplied me with router and phone you would assume they've checked compatibility.
Taking to their staff i get bull stories of placement of routers and walls in the house,if my house had no walls surely id be living outside.
Even my 10 year old laptop has no trouble connecting and staying connected to the super hub as do my friends IPhones.
I have returned the phones to the tech department.I must say im expecting them to come back without them finding a fault. So looks like were stuck with these buggy IPhone wannabees.
I'll let yo know the outcome.

It's Virgins buggy firmwares not the so called 'iphone wannabess'. Not sending texts on 2.3.3 and wifi issues on 2.3.5. There's a lot of people here using 2.3.5 and have no problems with wifi including myself when i was on 2.3.5 (SER) csc.
Your phone will come back without a fault but I bet any money Virgins firmware is to blame and they release an update to fix it within the next month or so.

i only found yesterday (saturday 5th november) is that my galaxy ace music player reboots when its on the 2nd / 3rd song. and it does like a fast shutdown and reboot within a minute. i did spot on friday that my phone was in safe mode. anyone else had problems with the music player?

The phone was only bought on monday from a vodafone store. PAY AS YOU GO. but i put my monthly sim card in. also when i had my phone on the first day. it keeps asking me for Sim Service. e.g vodafone uk or vodafone uk prepaid. but i did a factory restore on it and it some reason hasn't come back on yet.

still no sign of the phone coming back apparently waiting for a new handset.Got to say after much tinkering about and endless calls to Virgin Media i do believe now that virgin medias SuperHub router is to partly blame although they wont admit it.They had remote access to my pc last night and they configured my router settings but the problem still happens. So i connected my laptop and exactly 30 minutes a notification bubble popped up saying you are connected.Id never noticed this before. It doesnt need reconnecting it happens automatically so appears to be constantly connected.
The phone should still NOT reboot itself when it looses connection. There may be things to iron out in Gingerbread 2.3.5 but the main problem is the wireless router

The next option i have is to BUY my own separate wifi and use the Superhub as a modem only.Virgin will not supply me with this which is a complete joke.
If you call them they still say theyve never come across this problem.Lying through their back teeth.

well i bit the bullet.Cant wait for Virgin Media to sort out their problem so i bought a separate wifi router out of curiosity and im just using their so called superhub as a modem only and guess what?21 hours now and no loss of connection or reboot.
Virgin Media will not aknowledge the problem with their superhub so ive had to pay for the equipment myself.

Hello All,

I have exactly the same problem... Although i'm from the netherlands and using Tmobile.
Tried several things, factory default restore ect , no luck. then i thougth : download a "illegal" rom with the same version as the offical KIES. Still same problem...

I have indeed feeling it depends on the WIFI route but not 100% sure..

Exactly the same thing for me but im on VodafoneUK, Recieved phone on friday, with 2.3.3 loaded. went to
Settings > About Phone > Software Update. made a samsung account and it updated to 2.3.5. Now every 15mins or so it flashes up with the vodafone screen, goes to no signal, disconnects wireless and runs media scanner on SD card. really frustrating? what are all these other ways of updating people are talking about? this is my first Android Phone.

Cheers, Phil

I have the same behavior but my ace is not sim locked to a particular provider, i noticied that the frequency of reboot depends of the router. I think the problem is present in all 2.3.5.

Does someone already try a custom rom like Cyanogen from 2.3.7 ?, some people speak about improvement like Wifi reboot bug Fixed....!

I have the same problem with my ace in Germany, so i think that all devices with v. 2.3.5 have the same. If I do not use wi-fi, it works nearly OK... there are other small issues with alarms which do not work every time, with music player....
It should be possible to use Kies for downgrade also! at least with one functional version...

It's seems it is to do with the DHCP lease time, on my superhub(virgin) defaulkt setting is 1 hour so I get a renew request generated every 30 mins which causes Galaxcy Ace to reboot. I set the lease time to 1 day (86400 seconds) and it rebooted after 12 hours, just to check I set it to 600 seconds and it rebooted after 5 minutes (300 seconds), setting it to 1 day works for me. Hope that helps.

This is the exact same issue I've been having since upgrading via KIES yesterday. Phone keeps crashing when attached to wifi router.

Has anyone found a fix for this yet or a way to downgrade back to 2.3.4 or 2.3.3?

Thanks.
