Root EVO Discontinued? 2nd best?

I honestly haven't heard any details for the EVO 4G LTE regaurding how thin it is.

I want it for the camera, ICS Sense 4.0 goodness, and all that processing power

:p

Same thickness as the X. They're almost the same phone. The battery is 2,000 mAh instead of 1,800, but it's also not removable.

The following article doesn't mention the non-removable battery but there are plenty of other reviews out there. This is a comparison between the two.

HTC EVO 4G LTE vs HTC One X

didnt read the whole thread..but my wife cracked her screen today..sprint store, like stated does not stock EVO parts anymore...had to call the insurance company, a new phone is on the way...dont know if its an evo or what tho..

The funny thing is that we took my wife's phone in about 2 months ago because she had a cracked screen and they told us they no longer stock EVO screens, so we would have to go through insurance. I took my EVO in today because the screen was not responding to my touch. They tested and replaced the screen at the store. They are simply lying as they don't want to change it, but have the parts.

I think mine should be due sometime towards the end of this year, so I'm pretty excited to see what all is out around then. It'll be interesting to say the least.

I hope the stars align with whatever phone I end up with so that it gets a boatload of dev support too.

wouldn't it be crazy if all the old Evo folks ended up with the same phone again i the next coming upgrade cycles...?

;D

I will be up July of 2013 and be looking towards an LTE phone also, but remember folks that Sprint LTE wont be rolled out till 2013 properly anyhow so I wouldn't go rushing for a new phone untill LTE is out in your area.
I am on the Evo 3d now and loving every minute of it, but when I play on my daughters phone (my og evo), I find the time very enjoyable. It is really amazing how good they made this phone. Don't be in a rush to upgrade, the OG Evo is still a very solid phone. If you can wait for LTE before upgrading do so.

Also as for the screen breaking. I bought a replacement screen from Amazon for like 15$ and it took me about 20 minutes to replace it. There is a thin black double sided tape around the outer edge of the glass that you will want to make sure stays attached to the phone, but the glass part is on its own layer of "film" so it is not like you have to pry away every shard. It comes up all in one piece even if it is completely spider webbed. I started my prying around the top speaker making it very easy to do. Once you get the old screen off you literally just press the new one into place and plug it in. Very easy don't be afraid to try this yourself.

the more I hear about the evo lte (elte?) the more I like it. the camera is supposed to be awesome, and beats is cool, and I don't really care about a removeable battery or sd slot

but damnit, the nexus is so effing pretty. I'm going to have a tough decision coming up

Just my humble opinion from reading all of specs for the LTEVO, it has better hardware.

My buddy has the Nexus on Verizon, and he's had problems with it. Really bad battery drain, most likely from the 42" screen!!! :D He has radio problems too. Rooting it helped, but there's some flaws. Hopefully once it rolls out on Sprint all the bugs are weeded out.

I'm available for an upgrade right now and will hopefully be waiting to use it when the LTEvo comes out. Right now my OG is acting up, the speakers keeps shorting out and for some stupid reason it defaults to car mode and I can't get it to exit it.

Hey Urge!! Good to see you around buddy. :D

That sucks your OG is acting up so close to the LTEvo dropping. Hopefully it holds out long enough. My old Hero crapped out on my wife last week and I was forced to take the 3vo. Couldn't wait one more month!!!:p

Looks like I will be getting the Evo LTE come June. I think Sprint is going to give me an early upgrade(only 2 months early) so hopefully I can get my hands on one on the release date. Wonder how long it will take to root it without HTC's help so we don't lose warranty.
TACO Root is universal as of right now so hopefully they dont patch that.

Edit:
Scratch that
It only provides temporary root but hopefully someone else can come up with something

Yeah I have been really busy, although I have been stalking just not posting :)

This is the second Evo I have had do this, currently on my third or fourth lol all of which have been replaced for free. I love this phone and can hopefully hold out for the LTEvo but its getting worse.

I hope that works out well for you! Let us know, ok?

There are some youtube videos about doing stuff like that, have you seen them? They might be of some help to you.

Bought a screen from Amazon for $12. Couldn't find the right sized tool at the hardware store to remove the screws and didn't feel like buying online. Took the screen to a cell repair shop who replaced it for $50. Good as new. Although I really wanted to open that thing and take a peek inside, wife's Evo is back in business.
