I got to see the One X and One S for the first time today in my local 3 Store. I like the way you can access switches for Wifi, Bluetooth etc by dragging down the notification bar. From what I recall you get Airplane mode, Wifi, Bluetooth and Mobile Data. However I noticed that the GPS switch is absent. There was an HTC representative in the store who was promoting the two new phones, but he couldn't find the GPS switch either.

So has anybody who has the phone worked out how to switch the GPS on and off?

I had another look at the phone today, and if you go to Settings --> Location you get an option for GPS. It looks like the option is checked by default, and the phone will automatically switch on the GPS when you start up apps that require it. I presume then that the GPS will switch itself off when you are not using these apps, as otherwise you would drain the battery.

This is correct, the GPS is only activated when an app requests it. The only teason to really switch it off is if you have a poorly coded app that keeps requesting the GPS & even then deleting the app is a better solution.

Sorry to hijack but I'm curious. When I pull down the notification menu, I only have a settings gear icon. You mean you have Airplane Mode, Wifi, BT, etc? Wonder why I don't. I also bought from 3 HK.

Thanks,
Ken
