Eris to v2.x, when?

I do. Or did. I just uninstalled LockBotPro and now the volume button doesn't activate the screen. But before uninstalling I did look around in the config but did not find anything about the volume button. Thanks.
No prob.
I cant remember the actual wording, since I have uninstalled it for good I think (due to the lag time from slide to home screen when unlocking) but it was an option called use other hardkeys to wake, or something like that.

Under the Running services menu, do you have a process called "GTalkService" (com.google.process.gapps)? I believe that's actually the push receiver service. I killed it once (because I thought it was the "Talk" application running in the background), and then my Gmail push seemed to stop. After rebooting the phone, it was back and so was Gmail push.

Awww.. nice catch. Ya I ended that mother thinking it was Google Talk for sure.

Reboot!

I have the same questions. What is a good signal dBm number? I walk around and it goes from -87 to -99 and these are in areas that I know I have a good signal and can talk fine on the phone but the signal bars NEVER go above 2 bars and is usually at 1 bar only. Is this just a disconnect between actual signal and bar display or is -87 dBm actually a weak signal?

I dunno who to believe, the bars icon or this signal stat in the About Phone section. Well, I wouldn't say "believe" but it's hard to pinpoint, now, whether I have a consistently crappy connection looking at the dBm numbers, or if the phone uses more power by simply gauging it off of the bar icon.

Yeah I'm thoroughly confused with a lot on this build. I am however overall happy with updating now that my texts work and I seem to be able to make and receive calls OK. I am wondering though if anyone at all has any update on root status. I know they were pretty much hitting dead ends on 1.5 but were hopeful now that 2.1 leak was out. Any real updates heard?

I called Verizon Support today, HTK-your Supervisory team was awesome!! The regular service rep was reluctant to let speak with the supv. but that was OK, he was doing his job. I was returning a call from an email last week. While speaking with the Supv. he said a lot of his co-workers are running around with the same test version of 2.1 we all have and he said the update will over-right this version as an update with different version numbers; this gives me a relief, he didn't seem to be too concerned I downloaded this test version either; He seemed to know people were doing it and having some minor issues with it. Just wanted to give some information; He naturally did not have any information as to the update release date!! He said they won't know until the actual release. OK, what ever, anyway, I was relieved in that the official update would over-right the test version, which-I know Caddy and HTK and others said it would, I did not doubt this!!! I really didn't...

VZW employees are being trained with Nexus Ones now. No reason to get excited. The twat I talked to today about getting my miniUSB charger replaced today asked me what phone I had.

"It's for the Droid Eris." *gives her charger"
"The Motorola Droid Eris or the HTC."

Really? I see you have a BlackBerry there on the counter, but are you that stupid about the phone that's turned VZW from "shitty" to "eh, they're aight" when it comes to not neutering the phone?

I was in there and another customer came in and said he wanted to upgrade. Within two seconds he saw the Eris, played with it, and requested it. I honestly felt I could work at VZW and do a better job than every single representative there, other than the other Indian guy. We'd clash at first, but I'll make him my bitch too. Flash him my 2.1 and remind him who's on top.

So, question..................Upgrade to 2.1 leak or wait for root/or 2.1 (official)?

I don't really see a downside to updating to 2.1. I've had the update since the first day out and IT is as reliable as 1.5 except for a couple of things related to certification that would come with an official OTA update. After reviewing the Bug/Fixes file I would conclude that many items posted are the result of improper settings, human error, or confusion concerning new features.

I say nothing ventured nothing gained!

Just updated to 2.1. Was going to wait but got bored. One of the best things so far is that you can turn off the haptic feedback of the home, menu, back search button bar. I don't know if this has been mentioned, there's a lot of pages in this forum now, but this was a major complaint of the Eris when it was released (for whatever reason). It didn't bother me that much but now that its off, feels better. I haven't noticed a speed increase, but i like the new camera. Thanks for your help with the installation tutorials, everyone.

Tired of hearing about the silent calls thing..what ever you call...I went back and re-read Caddy's basics Tricks and Tips today, I see many precepts that apply to the new version that applied back in November; I believe my problem with the silent phone issue is compatibility of market downloads or market widget buttons and the 2.1 OS as some of these issues occur with things like wifi, email, and other operations running at the same time. The phone has run somewhat smoother with just a few needed or trusted apps running, and I am downloading them one day at a time then waiting to see if the problem occurs. Thanks...Caddy and all. I guess if your having this issue, load your apps one at a time and test the phone for a while, then load another and see and so on....When I had 1.5 I was able to download what ever, when ever and never had a problem so SOME of those developing the new 2.1 apps may have some of the bugs in their processes and not our beloved 2.1 OS...

Can someone please direct to me where I can the percentages you all are viewing. i would really appreciate it. :)

menu > settings > about phone > battery > battery use.
then one level deeper on Cell Standby is more information that's being referred to, specifically the 'time without connection' - or however it's phrased.

I put a widget for 'battery use' on my home page, lots easier.

What does it show when you press on cell standby?

Mine is showing 2h 42m 42s right now. It used to have 2 different times there and something showing that I was without signal 50% of the time. Are you seeing anything like that?

Whenever I press Cell Standby, The only thing I see is Cell Standby 29% and under USE DETAILS - Time on 6m 0s.

Where can I find the "without signal" you are talking about?
