IMEI Unlocked HTC Jetstream Wifi Problem - Solved

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with my new HTC Jetstream after having it unlocked:

I bought my tablet from at&t in the States and had shipped out to me in West Africa.

I purchased the $850 no commitment version thinking that it would be unlocked and thus make it capable of use on a different network to at&t.

I was wrong and the tablet arrived locked to at&t and with an at&t sim card installed.

I remember that the tablet WiFi worked when I first got tablet before unlocking it using htcimeiunlock.com (they are totally legitimate and provide a speedy unlocking service for $25).

After the tablet was unlocked and I inserted the sim card of my loal carrier I was unable to use the WiFi!!

I was in a blind panic and thought the tabet had become bricked by the unlocking process.

The tablet would briefly find WiFi networks which would then disappear after a few seconds and before I was able to logon on to any. The tablet would also alternatively scan endlessly for WiFi networks without finding any.

The solution I found is to re-insert the at&t sim card, with which the tablet came equipped, and the wireless would work perfectly again!

Of course with the at&tsim inserted I am unable to log on to any GSM or 3Gnetwork where I am because at&t is not available here.

So when I need to use the local GSM or 3G network I use my local sim card but then insert the at&t sim card when I need to use WiFi.

It is not ideal but I am to happy to know that my shiny new HTC Jetstream is not bricked to care about that.:D

Hope this helps someone out there one day.

My son does Business and was given several HTC Jetstreams to give to employees there. He brought two back to the USA...one for his wife and the other for me. The sim cards were removed but I do fine because it picks up my AT&T wi-fi. The problem that I am having is that when I try to download certain apps, it won't let me because it thinks I'm in Canada. I cannot log into canadian websites because I'm not in Canada. Three particular apps are on my short-list and I cannot have them...USPS (US postal service), HBO GO & UPS apps.

Is there anyway, I can remove the Roger's network software? Should I pursue an unlocking service? Is there something that I can do myself?

Thanks for sharing this. I have a similar issue. Bought mine in Canada with rogers network on it. I had it unlocked from htcimeiunlock.com and it worked. Now in West africa, I have my sim in and it is showing the network signal and name. But cannot connect to 3g internet even though am seeing the network signal and name. I have done manual setting to the network but still cannot connect.
Please I need help. The wifi works well.
FAR888, please can you help with the setting.
