I downloaded analog Swiss watch, which is a live wallpaper with different static images of watches with a rolling second hand. What I want to do it use their "live" second hand and swap in an image of my own. Is this possible using root explorer or anything similar?

Btw, if when installing the apk the jpgs are extracted somewhere... I don't know where that is.

Using root explorer you can go to /data/app and find the .apk file for the app you want. Click on it and then select view. The images should be under /res/drawable (or drawable-hdpi or d-xhdpi).

You can extract the file you want to your sdcard. However, I don't know if it is possible to replace the images, as I never tried. Someone can correct me, but I believe the .apk has to be signed properly and swapping an image may not work.

i did it to a live wall i got from rootz using 7zip on my computer. worked great. i should clarify i replaced .pngs in the wallpaper using 7zip. the only thing i didn't do was edit the thumbnail so it still shows the old version but im the only one using it so it doesn't matter.

So you just swapped the images and it worked? Did you change the apk to a zip and unzip? I've read about having to recompile and all that, which I am clueless about.

What exactly did you do to replace the image? Start to finish.

i used images i got from another live wallpaper so they were already named right. i opened the apk with 7zip moved the images from the first apk to the second one hit ok to over write the files and closed the apk. moved it to my sd card and used root explorer to install. this method may or may not work all the time. just happened to work for me.
