Geniatech Enjoy TV

Because of this I made an update yesterday. Changed just the colour of the cursor.
The cursor is white.
Update as usual.

Great thanks for that.

It has made the update much easier to use.

i note that some of my Gingerbread apps that use flashplayer do runn and ask for flashplayer to be installed.

I have tried to install several versions with no avail.

Although You Tube is OK Crackle, Veetle and ABC 24 News TV keep asking for Flash Player. I had a similar problem with Gingerbread originally but was able to replace it with a version that worked with the apps.

Fortuneately Gingerbread was rooted and I was easily able to access the Root and remove and replace the versions until I got the one that worked.

I might have to learn how to write my own update.img to install.

As with the other apps that do not work, I recall the same happened with all types of Androids during the change from Frodo to Gingerbread. There are currently quite a few app out there that will not run on Gingerbread, only Frodo or earlier.

The problem is not unique to ICS.

Fezinio, i know the right click is a pain in the ass, should be a separate button for "back". but the thing behind that is that the box is not a pc, so not too many options to be displayed, so they eliminated the right click. for options, use F1 on the remote. it will show the options/setting for that particular application, if any.

Barns, i saw in malpins in ireland these boxez, they look like my atv2000 and the price is good, but are they original? will they work with Geniatech firmware? they could be clones... let us know.

Yes these Maplin box's will take the Geniatech atv2000 updates. I have just bought one and gone through the process myself.

After Scanning all 24 pages of posts (what a headache).

FIRST THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME WITH THE UPGRADE tech was very UN-support. This Thread got me up to date and took most fustration away.

I have purchased an EnjoyTV 3000. The Android 2.2 that came with it was worthless, upgraded the SPI and to 2.3 (2012-01) and things are workng very well.

I have only had an hour or so on it, but so far AVIs off of USB/SD run great.

I put a 2TB (yes TB) hard drive FAT32 into it.

System picked it up (but I think it does an initialization after boot seems it does an extra spin up 1-2 minutes after boot)

I have had it crash (but I think I started the video before the second spin up I refer to above) plays fine then all of a suddon the Audio "Pops" than no audio, and no exiting the video (but the video still plays alas I can't read lips)

HDMI how do I get it to move from Composite to HDMI? I have gotten to go to 480i CVBS no problem.

BTW a good App might be something that would change the video settings to CVBS/HDMI/Composite from a keyboard. I know I should change it to CVBS before taking it on the road, but what if one forgets, be nice to boot press Alt-Ctrl-?? which would reset the video and reboot the device. A mini Thread on this line had someone with a "cant see the screen what are the keystrokes"

Thirdly since it has a 2TB hard drive has anyone got a SAMBA server to work on one of these if so any Links you could point me to. I saw one on the google app market, needs SuperUser first then SAMBA.

So far I am liking what I have, tomorrow I will test Live HDTV (CBC Hockey).

Hey all. I thought you guys might like to hear, Geniatech announced at NAB2012 conference (in Las Vegas) a new ATV1200 box coming which has dual-core Cortex A9 and ICS. I didnt get any pictures, they had the board connected and running, but just the PCB without casing. But I do have the datasheet, guess I can share that with you. Will post it soon.

did you tried it, or just copy&paste changelog? does it look like a finished rom, or there is some bugs to improve in some newer versions?

if somebody do a upgrade, please wrote some impressions. thanks!

EDIT:
i compared this latest update with 2.3.4. it is clean install, no additional apps (big like), but, i also finded that there is still missing permissions and "google.maps.jar" in framework folder. so, we can expect same problems with market and missing/incompatible apps.

but (this one is for gio), there is difference with 2.3.4 - in \system\app folder, beside .apk files, there are associated .odex files. so, what do you mean - will we still be able to customize rom like we did with 2.3.4?

Hi vikidroid, I unzipped update20120420 release and , effectively, in: system/app
I have found these .odex files.
There were present also, in previous ICS release (20120411), and making a search
I have understood that, with this extension, the apps are loaded more quickly.
They don't give any problem for our customizing, in fact, following the same procedure
described in my last videoguide, I realized a customized version of this rom
(I added permissions, com.google.android.maps.jar and changed fingerprint).
Here is the link to the file:
update_20120420_M1_4.0_mod.zip

My first impression is positive...I noted the white cursor (more visible), flash player
10.2 perfectly working (tested on youtube videos and with apps, such as Veetle and
Filmon, which need flash player installed).
I hope that, as soon as possible, it could be rooted...

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your efforts. The new ICS is working very well - Youtube is smooth on HD now and the cursor is a good sized white one. I still have a problem with catchup TV websites like ABC iView here in Australia and also any that use Silverlight.
Quick question:-I was wondering how you know when a new ICS firmware is released as I don't seem to have access to Geniatech's download directory unless it is to download a specific file. They don't seem to update their news when there is new releases either.

I tried the latest ICS update, all installed fine, but unfortunately the supplied mouse/keyboard no longer works, neither does any of the web/flash based websites tjhat worked on 2.3.4

So I thought I would revrt back to 2.3.4?

Having reinstalled 2.3.4 I found the mouse/keyboard no longer works witj this version?

So I reinstalled 2.3.4 again and now the box wont start, it just gets stuck on the green Android man on start up?

I will try install some other older vErsions of the firmware to see if I have any joy?

Thanks for all the work on modded ICS versions. The lookis great and slowly things are getting better with it. it a whole new animal to what is was when i got it last week as a 2.2 version.

The reason I am writing though is that I have a few problems that I could do with some help with

the first is that i got this box primarily to use with netflix. I was able to use it ok on 2.2 and 2.3 but I am having problems with 4.0. The main problem being that after about 5 minutes of watching netflix crashes. I have have tried the app and 3 different brouwsers including the standard installed one but the same result. I also tried down grading from 1080p to 720 p but again it crashed.

Secondly when pressing the remotes power button we no longer get the option to go into standby, power off or reboot. so physically have to turn off the box.

The other concern I have is that we have lost the data light from the frount of the box. Although thisis not a major problem, it was handy when things on the screen seemed to be doing nothing but the data light was blinking and let you know that the box haddent frozen. It would be nice if we could get this feature back.

It would be great if someone can help resolve these problems. The main issue for me is the netflix one as this is my primary use for the box.

on a good note, utube and crackle seem to work ok now for me.

many thanks in advance
