Geniatech Enjoy TV

@stasik
I can tell you that the device is not rooted and there isn't any network icon...
so I think that, at this moment, we can't play from samba:(

@skull
It's not so easy to add root to a firmware release... (it's work for developers)
we have only to wait for next updates.
Wifi works correctly, you should only check your router settings (SSID and wifi active) and, in your device, turn wifi on and insert password.

It would seem to me we should be able to easily root the TV box.

Simplistically we went from Frodo to Gingerbread both which were rooted and then to ICS which was not rooted and then back to Gingerbread which was rooted.

It seems to me that there must be an entry in the Gingerbread update that roots the tablet that is absent in the ICS update or the ICS update has an entry that unroots the tablet.

Opening the update with either WinRAR or 7-Zip reveals the folders, files and applications loaded and one of these should be the root/no_root one.

I can identify the applications to be loaded but which/where is the critical rooting file?

Guys, what is advantage of having HDD bay in ATV3000 ?

is it possible to buy ATV2000 and play movies from a share on a laptop? or just use external hardrive??

Thank you

For ATV3000, you can put a sata HDD into HDD bay and play videos directly,

For ATV2000, it supports external harddrive, install a DLNA app to play movies from a share on a laptop also is possible,.

-----
Geniatech has fixed network issue on ICS, so fast.:dancing2:
Upgrade with attached patch for installing" network/samba" app.
don't unzip, change the file name to update.img, then, copy to SD card, and run "Upgrade" app on ICS.

This update also includes the root permission?

issues i have with fw4:
-after setting the screen size, every time i play video, it seems to zoom in and the controls of the video player are outside the screen. even f i make the dimension smaller, once in video, controls are away too. so no matter what display size u set, once u play video in zoomes in.
-after applying "network" patch, i can go in the samba file and play videos, ut once i exit "network" i can not get in anymore. i get error "IP access denied" or similar. i have to reboot
-how to properly power off the device? at the moment i press the button on the box for a few seconds. hope it does not harm the box

any one experiences the same??

I am having problem when I plug in an external hdd (usb) on every ICS versions. The screen goes black and flashes and then the box freezes and I have to reboot.
If I boot with the external drive plugged in, the system is realy unstable.
Before, with Froyo or Gingerbread, I was able to use it whitout any issue.
I reinstalled Gingerbread and I was again able to use it.
Otherwise it seems that everything works.

has anyone has issues with the tv tuner on the atv2000/equivalent?

opened up the box plugged it all in, plugged in the usb tv dongle and the tv program says it cant find the dongle.

the usb ports work, and the dongle is recognised in windows.

ive tried the android 2.3 out of the box and the latest upgrade to 4.0ics.

how do you check for installed devices/drivers on android?? i am an experienced windows admin but new to android.

any help would be appreciated.

Q

EDIT: id also love to use a cordless kb/mouse or a BT kb/mouse. anyone doing that?

EDit 2: plugged my MSwireless desktop 5000 dongle in, with no notifications it just works, kb and mouse perfect, even the scroller.

thanks

A chap at work uses cheap wireless mouse combo with the stock 2.2 firmware. Any USB combo wireless mouse k/b should work. I tried a Bluetooth Logitech Denovo it clashed with the built in one.

Siddys any luck getting your k/board back? Which post has the details? Anyone? A list of good posts is needed. Or a forum for this hardware.
