So I've been looking for a nice desktop dock for the Aria so I can use it on my nightstand at night while charging. I don't like laying it flat on my nightstand cause having the speaker against the surface muffles the speaker, and I use it as an alarm clock most nights. I scoured about, but there aren't a lot of Aria specific accessories. Finally while searching google for "htc hd mini cradle" or something of the like I ran across this:
HTC Aria, HD Mini Desktop Charging & Sync Cradle

Looks nice, and it even SAYS it works with the Aria. That makes me wonder why it never showed up on my searches looking for Aria specific stuff... the picture has an Aria sitting in it lol. I ordered it up, and it wasn't as cheap as I would have liked. Came out to about $38 after shipping. I'll let you all know how I like it once it arrives early this week.

Follow-Up: it showed up today. Looks decent quality. Came with bother USB and AC Adapter connections for charging or charge/syncing. Small footprint, so it won't take up a lot of room on my nightstand. I like it a lot so far. If I notice anything cool/bad about it I'll edit and let you guys know.

I was wondering if the dock can be plugged into both the computer USB sync and the AC wall charger at the same time and if that could be harmful to the phone. Or is it recommended the dock only receive one input at a time. Because I read PC USB generally only trickle charges at 100 A whereas wall/car chargers can charge at 9-10X that.

I was thinking of getting this one here from amazon. It seems to have the same design but includes an extra battery dock, which I wouldn't use as I hate opening my phone up.

I had it plugged into both for a while and it didn't seem to affect anything. I didn't like the design of the AC charger it came with, so I actually took the HTC usb-AC plug adapter that the Aria came with into the usb connection of the dock to charge it with AC power now. Works fine, charges fast. I do feel like it may charge faster under AC only compared to usb only... but thats only speculative.

I just switched from an iPhone to my first Android, the Aria. I like to dock my phone when I am at work, but I was sad to see no real choice in docks for the Aria, so I decided to make my own. It's made from an old iPhone dock (ironic?) and only took me an hour or two to build. This was my first attempt, and could do much better and make a much cleaner dock next time. If anyone is interested, I will write up a how-to when I get a chance.

Interesting work. Does anyone else wonder if the micro USB connector on the phone is strong enough to handle repeated stress of docking, twisting and standing?
