So, Today I got myself a brand spankin' new HTC Rezound to replace my Droid Bionic. Sort of a minor upgrade I know, but I couldn't resist. But, I have been given the option of switching to a Galaxy Nexus for the same price and now I am concerned on which to choose. So I have some questions for you guys!

1. For starters, what is the dev scene like on this phone? I did searching for roms and it seems there are a fair amount of them. But my concern lies with ICS. It seems the ICS roms have some pretty big issues (time not setting, no MMS). I loved ICS on my Bionic but I couldn't stand the lack of hardware acceleration that essentially meant that no games worked at all. I was under the impression this is because of the locked bootloader on moto phones. So the short version of this question is: Can I get a fully functional ICS rom on this, or a comparable super fast and solid GB rom at least?

2. How does this phone stack up the nexus? The optimal situation would be someone who has had time with both. I played with the Nexus for about 2 hours today and I noticed it couldn't hold a very strong 4G connection. Already I'm noticing a better connection on this Rezound. So far I'm not regretting my choice. But maybe you guys know something I don't?

I guess just overall I'm looking for some opinions on this phone. Tell me what you guys think!

I think the Rezound is a great device. I had it for three weeks before getting the Nexus. As you've already stated the signal reception is really the biggest downfall for the nexus in my opinion.

I think now that S Off is here for the Rez you'll see some much better Roms.

So do you regret switching to the Nexus? And also, it sounds like S-OFF comes with a lot of weird downfalls but I'm not really seeing the perks?

I just finished unlocking my bootloader, so now I'm gonna try flashing a ROM, not sure which to try yet but I'll think of something.

I was frustrated with my Rezound until I loaded CleanROM. ICS actually fixed these issues:
Mobile Hotspot - works perfectly now. No data disconnects
Animation Lag - especially when opening the app drawer. Was as much as a one second lag.
Bluetooth - Was slow to reconnect, in my car. Now connects within 2 seconds.

4G connectivity remains the same (excellent).

New issues I've experienced:
- Can't use Screen off and lock widget because of a JAR file incompatibility issue. Should be fixed, at some point.
- High temperatures after extended use. This was an issue after maybe 30-40 minutes previously, but now can occur as soon as 15 minutes after heavy use.
- Battery Life - went down by probably 10%. Screen off battery life actually improved, though.

honestly yes. And i'm not afraid to admit that. Yeah it stings but what are you going to do you know.

Regarding S-Off, don't let the wording scare you. Everyone that has ever had an HTC device has always wanted S-Off. The Incredible was a fantastic phone because S-Off was achieved.

As of right now there are no ROM's taking advantage of whatever S-Off achieves though right? I'm running clean rom and it's pretty awesome, and I'll prolly keep it until a fully functional AOKP is achieved.

Only because S-Off was just achieved this past weekend. Give it time.

Ditto - It's only been since this weekend that the method for S-Off was widely available and I know from the various forums that the Devs are working on taking advantage of it. You should start seeing improvements in ROMs soon because of that.

Also, are you using the Sense 4.0 "Evita" base ROMs or the Sense 3.6 ROMs with ICS? In general, the 3.6 ones are a bit more of a memory hog, but they're much more stable with everything working well enough to be your daily driver without a hitch and less heating issues. RezROM 3.4 and CleanROM 4.3 are 2 I've used extensively and had no problems with in daily use. I've heard good things about BAMF 2.1 and Nills Business sense also and there are others I'm sure I've missed.

The Sense 4.0 ones show allot of potential and I've tried them, but they're just not ready for daily use for me and some others from my experiences and other comments I've read. And until we have an official ICS release for the Rezound, I don't think there's much more that can be done with them. (But, I'm not a Dev so take what I say with a grain of salt)

For now, there's plenty of great ICS ROMs out there and good support for them on the Rezound. IMO I'd stick with your Rezound because things are only looking up with it right now for rooted users.

I'm running cleanrom currently. Everything appears to be running smoothly :D

I have an HTC Rezound.. Love my phone but I hate the stupid useless, intrusive, natter draining apps Verizon keeps forcing on us.... So- what are the advantages of and disadvantages of rooting? And will it affect my service plan? Finally, can someone give me step by step instructions on how to do it? Also, what is S-Off?
