I have now gone through the standard android browser, Opera mini, Firefox, Skyfire and Maxthon. All had their good points (except Maxthon, which I found to be lousy), but none of them have really done it for me.

I'm now playing a bit with Dolphin HD and UC Browser and thought I'd reach out and see what everybody's preferences for their primary browser are, and what you view the strengths and weaknesses of your choices to be.

I haven't used UC Browser yet (just looking at the Google Play page and it looks pretty good), but so far my favourite has been Boat Browser which for me has been the smoothest and generally most pleasing to use out of all the browsers I have tried (my least favourite being Firefox was was really slow and lagged constantly.) Probably what I like most about Boat is how easy and smooth it is to use the tabs, it's more responsive than my browser on my laptop :p

Similar story here, I'm afraid. In my time I've tried Dolphin HD, Dolphin Mini, Opera, Opera Mini, Miren, Skyfire, XScope, and of course the stock browser (and the HTC Sense one until I got rid of Sense). Probably some others I've forgotten. But I settled on Boat as my regular browser. Simple to use, fast, smooth, uncluttered, handles tabs well, basically does what I want without getting in my way.

My understanding is that UC is really good at minimizing data traffic. It was initially designed for feature phones and slow 2G network. So they strip away a lot fat of a regular html and compress it as well I think. I have UC for some time now. Basically I use regular browser when on wifi and use UC when on mobile network.
