I was listening to the This Week in Tech (TWiT) podcast, and one of the panelists of the show says he knows why iOS always feels silky smooth when swiping through homescreens, menus, etc. And it's a really simple reason: in iOS you're actually swiping through full screen "images" of icons. So there is very little for the OS to do processor wise.
Conversely, in Android, when you swipe through home screens all the icons, widgets, etc are being animated left and right, so the OS is doing a lot more processing, and there is more potential for lag.
If it's as simple as that, then I wonder why Android isn't doing this too.
