Verzion Nexus Car Dock

how does this mount? not sure i can tell from the picture anyway to use a suction cup mount with this? It's a very good alternative + nfc sticker for bluetooth and volumes.
Go back to the website and start at the homepage. It's actually interesting. You enter your vehicle information, and they sell theae clips. You'll see. Anyway, it does seem like a good alternative, but it's certainly not cheap once you take into account the mount and the clip.

I mean the pogo charger is $90 so I can't imagine the pogo car mount being very cheap..

It looks like a lot of these docks with built in usb block the headphone jack though. Part of the reason I have a car dock is to listen to music in the car. I finally just gave up and bought an open universal dock and an nfc tag which I programmed to launch car home, turn on bluetooth, increase volume, etc.

Where do you get an NFC tag, how much does it cost and how difficult is it to program?

Sorry for the questions but that sounds pretty cool.

I use Tasker and have it set to open music and turn up volume when a headphone is inserted (closes it when the headphone is pulled). Works well but I would also want the bluetooth to turn on when I'm in the car.

I got my tags at Tagstand, but BuyNFCTags is also popular. Just make sure to buy pre-formatted tags!! (NDEF formatted). They're really cheap, like between $1-$1.50 or so if I recall. And they're incredibly easy to program, just buy NFC Task Launcher ($1.99). You basically just click on what you want it to do, then hold it up to the tag you want to program and you're done! And you're in luck since you use Tasker already, NFC Task Launcher allows you to program NFC tags with Tasker tasks.

Really? No car or landscape dock? Really?

Yeah, I know. There's a way overpriced car "holder" made specifically for the phone. No ports or anything. But after I got my Tunelink, I don't really care about the 3 pin dock quite as much any more. I got my A2DP music taken care of with the Tunelink, and I finally found a fast charger. So I think I'm just going to get a $20 universal dock for when I'm using satnav and call it a day. I'm still trying to decide which one, but I'll probably just go into Verizon and get the one that they have some time.

If you get a call over the Bluetooth, does the Tunelink disable the music so you can answer the call? And can you play Pandora over the Tunelink or does the music have to come from the Tunelink app?

Yeah, it pauses the music when I get a phone call, which goes through my stereo unit. The stereo only had the bluetooth profiles for phone calls and not for A2DP. BUT there's an issue with the GNex. It's like it doesn't give enough bandwidth to the phone profile when you're doing both. The phone call will be crackled on both ends. If I unplug the Tunelink during a call, it takes about 10 seconds and then it fixes the phone call. I'm hoping the next software update fixes this. There's a whole thread on this here. Here it is:

http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus/524885-galaxy-nexus-bluetooth-bug.html

Yeah, you can use any media source from the phone. I guess anything that brings up the media volume rocker should work. I use Ubermusic as my music player. I haven't used any streaming source since I got it, but it works.

I got the iPhone version of the Tunelink because I like the blue light over the green. :) Plus apparently the new iOS version has issues connecting to the Android version in case you wanted to try the multiple people in car playlist thing that it does. lol.

I have a Sony MEX-BT3000P head unit installed in my car. I bought this rite after I got my Gnex. It allows me to control Pandora (thumbs up, thumbs down, next) through bluetooth. I can also make calls, scroll through my contacts and everything else. I make calls, play music, navigate all at the same time very often with no crackling on phone calls. Pandora music over bluetooth is not the best quality all the time but music from play music is great. It lowers the volume for navigation commands, also pauses music for phone calls. Very affordable also.

The speaker for making calls is not that great because it's on the head unit and not external but if the windows are up they can hear you fine.

Does anyone know if the 4.0.x>2 fixes the bugs with the mount?

Sounds like it does. At least one person mentioned a couple months ago that his mount would not work on stock 4.0.2 but after rooting and using 4.0.4 that the mount worked like it was supposed to. Expect the Samsung pogo docks to be available again after 4.0.4 or 4.0.5 is official.
