I got the new HTC One S (T-Mo USA) and I love it. But to my dismay I started getting tons of Advertisements (they show up in the notification bar). A couple of times, by mistake, I clicked on them and my phone started downloading unwanted apps. How do I get rid of this?!
Thanks

Those are air pushed ads. Download this app to find which is the culprit:

Dreadnatty is right, but I'm curious. Did you download any apps or did this happen with just TMO setup (like just straight from the store?) I also use TMO and some of the apps TMO had on the phone annoyed me no end.
TMO had a messaging glitch about a month ago.
dreadnatty08: I tried AirBrush Detector and it says that the two culprits are MP3 Downloader and Youtube Downloader. Now what? I don't want to delete them because they are both very useful to me.
zuben: I only downloaded a handful of apps that I owned and operated before on my HTC Sensation. My Sensation NEVER had this issue of advertiesments before.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help!

It's not a TMO issue. I just got the phone about a week ago and haven't noticed anything like this. So it's definitely got to be the apps they installed.

Granted they have a couple annoying apps, but that is why the disable function in ICS is so nice (or rooting/freezing for the couple of apps that you can't do that for).

@Sanibel: I would just get rid of the offending apps. That gets rid of the issue. In my opinion any app that does that goes too far for my taste and isn't worth using.

I tried several comparable apps but they all push ads. It seems that all music/video downloaders push ads ~ don't know why.
This is a pretty good thread on the subject as well.

What about to purchase ad-free version of you favorite apps?
The developer who wrote music/video downloader want to earn some profit of it. It is obvious. Nothing is for free. ;-)

If there was a paid version of music download and Youtube download I'd get them. Do you know of any?:stupido:

If your phone is rooted, download AirBlocker and Adfree Android from the market
My phone is not rooted.

You guys have fantastic ideas: Kudos!
