Coming SOON: May 31- HTC Evo V (4G)- ICS

Sorry to sound ignorant, but I don't know what that means exactly.

How can I tell if a phone supports the bands?

If it's a T-mo branded phone it will and that's basically it. There are very few non t-mo phones that support T-mo bands. The Gnex and gnote come to mind. As long as they support both the 1700/ 2100 bands then it will work on T-mo HSPA. And try staying on topic there is a T-mo thread that you can talk about this stuff here: T-Mobile - Android Forums

The $10 price increase directly puts them as a prepaid T-Mobile competitor, and T-Mobile's 4G coverage, speed, and phones beat Virgin Mobile's stuff by a long shot. Doesn't make much sense to me...

Well then the answer is easy for you. For others, 100 minutes is just too low. Yes you can get around it using VoIP, but some people don't want to mess with that. It's not exactly a perfectly seamless replacement of voice minutes. Some people are willing to fart around with the technical details of doing that, and some aren't.

nope needs 1700 and 2100 otherwise you will only get edge (2g) speeds...

Sorry, it just picked my interest. From what I understand, you can get any T-Mobile phone on their Pre Paid Plans, as long as it those bands (1700) & (2100)? If so, I'll read more on it then. Thanks.

Still, I'm curious. The Evo V is coming with ICS, does that mean that all of the bugs that it had when it was on sprint, are now going to be fixed?

What are the chances that 4G coverage will be expanding in the near future? I really want the Evo but I also really want 4G.

I am in the Boston area so I'm surprised there isn't much coverage around me. It's not like I live in the sticks.

Highly unlikely. At least WiMAX. I doubt sprint will do much about WiMAX and will be focusing on LTE.

As long as it has the 1700/ 2100 bands it can be used on T-mo prepaid and get hspa. Any gsm phone can be used but if it doesn't have the 1700/ 2100 bands it will get 2g only. And like I said the only non t-mo phones that have those bands are the Gnex and the AT&T galaxy note. I'm not sure if there are any other ones that support t-mo frequencies that aren't t-mo branded.

As for the bugs that the evo v has they may have the same bugs from the evo 3d o it may have them fixed, there is no way to know until it released...

Yeah I know that wimax with sprint is discontinued and if you don't have it now you won't get it. If you do have sprint wimax coverage it will be expanded in your city to cover the whole city. I'm not sure if the evo v can get wimax from an LTE signal or not. I just came out of the sprint store and I am fortunate enough to be in a city where I can get 4g coverage for this phone (but only down town) so who knows, it may be expanded for me :D.

Maybe i'm a little too excited but I already bought an extended 2x battery. They sell em at best buy for $70. but on their outlet site cowboom their only $14.99 :D

Reviews on xda say that they get about 2 days with moderate use.

ive just heard that they decided to use a different battery for the evo v 4g for seemingly no reason other than to spite you.

Sprint is not going to build out WiMax any further, they're slated to decommission it in 2015, same as they did with iDen on Boost this year. As far as the choice of phones Sprint is intending on taking their 1 year old high end phones that weren't exactly stellar sellers and bring them to Virgin and Boost. It will save them a ton of money by not having to type approve handsets in the small quantities that they sell on their prepaid divisions. Should be a win-win situation for them and us. We get higher end phones quicker and cheaper and Sprint saves a ton on buying handsets that are already a year old and FCC type approved. This is hardware wise the same exact phone as last years Spint Htc Evo 3d with the addition of ICS.

I think the phone is perfect as it is. I have to jump ship for any mods. I reflashed my stock rom on my current phone. Got sick of bugs, battery life, and no cameras or HDMI. I'm just happy the new phone has ICS, htc sense, dualcore, 3d, HDMI, 4g(slightly quicker speeds in 3g area, and it is HTC. For any of you guys in 3g areas the internet is almost instantaneous for me. I got friend with a 4g HTC phone (dont know which one) that opened up a web page and it took just one second or less to load. So yeah no Modding for me I'm happy.
