Help Screen Quality Issues on new Transformer Pad 300

I just received my new Pad 300 from Amazon and was setting it up when I realized that there are 3 or 4 dead pixels on the bottom right of the screen that are very visible with a black background.

Also, there is a hairline scratch that seems to be between the glass and the LCD screen in the middle of the screen.

Has anyone else had any screen quality issues with their new Pad 300? Is the best way to get this issue resolved through Amazon or directly through Asus?

No problems with the screen on mine.

The quickest and easiest route is to return it to Amazon. I had to do this around a year ago when I had first ordered the TF101. I filled out a return form on Amazon for an exchange due to dead pixels. They overnighted me a new TF101 without any problems.

Going through Asus will take forever. There's no reason to do that if you just received it from Amazon. They'll get you a new one in no time.

I stopped by my local Best Buy to check out the Transformer Pad 300 because I was seriously considering buying it. However, I'm really torn about the screen brightness. Even turned all the way up the screen is just bright enough in my opinion. Compared to the Prime it's literally like night and day. Now I'm not so sure what I'm going to do.

Well, keep in mind that you also looked at it in a Best Buy. The lighting in Best Buy is far from the lighting in pretty much every indoor situation most people are likely to use a tablet. It's so bright in the store that's going to have an impact on how one's perception of the brightness fares.

I used to have a Prime, and I now have a TF300. With the exception of using it outside, I see no difference between the TF300's screen and the Prime's when it comes to regular use inside.

I was at Best Buy today and turned both the Prime and TF300 brightness all the way up, and didn't seem to notice too much of a noticeable difference; but I didn't really test it that much.

As far as my issue with the dead pixels and scratch go. I contacted Asus directly and three days later I have no response from them. Already received my replacement from Amazon instead and sent the old one back and the new one is perfect! Now I am completely happy with my purchase.

Glad you got it straightened out. Amazon is fantastic for returns and exchanges, especially if you receive the product in a condition that's anything but perfect. Asus is an absolute last resort for much of anything for trying to get pretty much anything fixed, especially for an issue that the device came with.

I purchased one from best buy and it had a small cluster of dead pixles and when I exchanged it I received another tablet with dead pixles and the same thing with the third and now I'm afraid to take this one back and exchange it I'm thinking I got the wrong table I regret buying this thing now

Just take it back and get a refund, then.

I ordered mine on Amazon and it's fine. Maybe Best Buy got a bad batch? Try somewhere else with your refund

I to have the same issue with the hairline scratch in the middle of my tf300's screen. Didn't show up till 10 days after I bought the tablet at Bestbuy and shortly after I noticed the scratch 2 cracks (originating from the scratch) are encompassing the whole tablet. Now the tablet is unresponsive to touch and Asus wants me to send it back for evaluation. Has anyone here heard of the cracking issue elsewhere or is it just the hairline scratch problem that has come up so far.

Yeah I took it back today was going to exchange it for a 3rd time but this time I turned the tablet on in the store to check it and right away noticed two bad pixles just got a refund instead. I've read alot of forums and this seems to be a trend for the 300 series which is a bummer. Going to get the 700 series instead giving Asus one last chance. If that model has the same problems as the 300 series then I'm switching to the Acer tablet with the quad core processor or the newest Samsung galaxy tab.

I wouldn't call it a trend. It's something that really only affects a small number of people, or else you'd see it absolutely everywhere. I frequent pretty much all of the major tech forums, and it's mentioned here and there, but no more than pretty much any tablet. Everyone who gets a screen with no dead pixels isn't going to start a thread talking about it. Only those that do end up with dead pixels do. So of course you'll see a lopsided discussion on the negatives that are few and far between. It's the same with pretty much everything.

No harm in waiting for the Infinity if the specs are worth the price to you though. It will definitely be a nice machine.

I got a RF 300 at Best Buy last Monday. Equipment and screen are OK.

Thinking about a Bluetooth keyboard. Would like to see about anyone's experience.

Browsers, stock, Firefox, dolphin for pad, are buggy, and limited in handling of bookmarks.

And, what's with renaming transferred files "securedownload"? Would love to hear the rationale for that.

Overall, glad I waited for TF 300 as I need GPS.

Mine has exactly 1 dead pixel that I didn't notice until I read this thread. :(
Oh well, actually doesn't bother me at all, and since I have it already set up how I want I'ma just keep it.
