For the past week my cell service has been terrible. The first few days i figured it was the weather interfearing with the tower. I dont know what the problem could be. Help please!!! I work third shift and it very boring with out my phone.

I have tried many other radios and am at a loss.

Thanks

It could be a tower issue. If you hadn't done anything to the phone to change the service you were getting and it starts not getting good service its usually some kind of outside interference and not the phone. Have you talked with sprint to see if there is an issue on their side?

If you are in a high population area the tower might be overloaded or about to be. Typically I get better signal during the late night to early morning hours when most normal people are in bed lol and my signal is worse during the day. I would give them a ring and see if it's a known issue in your area and if they don't see anything they should dispatch a tech to further investigate the tower issue. Good luck!

PS: Try and Profile and PRL update and clear your cache and dalivk-cache and see what happens ;)

I was kind of hoping to avoid calling them. I tend to get angry with them over the phone. I was hoping for some magical fix that i havent thought of. Lol

I have done the PRL amd Profile in an effort to eleminate calling sprint. I have also cleared both cache. Doing so get me low service 3g which is better then the shitty 1x. Heavy use of the tower shouldnt be a problem beings i am using it from 11pm to 8 am. I am very sure that i am the only sprint data whore on this tower at this time. I guess i must resort to calling them. Thanks for the help.

I was also going to ask about that. Service is normally good at work until this last week. At work i normally get full 3g getting 2.5mbps down and 1.2mbps up. At my house which is at a pit fall location inbetween 3 towers. The airave would be very nice.

In the last month around my area, my service sucks because the tower is getting worked on/upgraded. I switched prl to 00002 and I've had no problems.
I know it's a verizon prl but I dont care at the moment:D

My service at work (on the Sprint campus headquarters no less) is great in the morning and hit or miss in late morning/early afternoon. I used to get great 3G all day long. I have called sprint to see if there are tower issues in the area, but they contend that there is not, so I have just attributed it to overloaded towers. It seems to be a bit better as of late, allowing me to get 1000 kbps down speeds, but every now and again I'll just have super crappy speeds even with a full signal.

The airave May not be transferable TP your work. It has a god single that locks on your location to be sure you're using it at your residence. Believe me I have one. ;)

It kicks ass at the house! :D

It has a god single

Even though a Typo I love it :D

No you can't have the airave at both work and home. If your company has sprint you can get them to order one for the office. It can handle up to 50 devices if memory serves me correctly.

I have one as well, the initial setup takes a hour or longer sometimes and it's tied to your address via GPS so it's not really a viable option to take it to work :p Even with the airave the 3G speeds in my area still blow :D

I have my airave at work and it works fine. Beyond that im also running the verizon prl on my beloved evo and have FAR better service. Be forewarned tho, sprint will eventually catch on that you're ALWAYS roaming ESP if you're doing alot of data traffic. I have got 1 Gestapo letter so far and it was about 7 mos ago. That being said, I've been running the vzw prl for over a year. It is possible to get the size 13 boot up your ass from sprint if they get too pissy about it, this has been verified by 2 quite esteemed ex evo users can attest, so take this with a grain of salt.

I just set up the verizon PRL. Service is way better. How much can one use this and get away with it? Medium use 20 or 30 hrs per week? Can they boot you for any useage at all?

Just to confirm YD did you activate at your house or work?

Do you lug it back and forth?

Only reason I'm asking is because I've read some info on it, and it seems it was set up with the GPS dongle / biscuit / hockey puck / whatever it is, to prevent people from doing this. If it works, rock it brother!!

I know this unit runs your calls over VoIP, so they don't count toward your minutes or your data. Also this technically could work outside of the US, maybe thats the purpose of the GPS thingey? To keep people from getting around international calling with an airave.

It goes mainly by a percentage of use. That being said, I RARELY use my phone for calling. The letter I got mainly talked about data roaming and i think it was like 200 to 300 meg a month being the threshold where they started to be asses about it. THAT being said, if youre on a sense rom, then youre easily able to swap back and forth between the prls at will. If youre running an aosp rom(im not sure if AOKP roms suffer from the same issue as AOSP, but id say its likely), then youre stuck with the prl you have without flashing back to a sense based rom. And as i mentioned before, its been months and months since ive heard a word from them about it, but im not your typical pone user (i say that while on hold with best buy LoL!!!!) Anyways, you get 3 warning letters before they boot you, so you can run it for a while, and see when/if they ever warn ya, and if they do, then you can simply update your prl back to sprints preferred one and go from there. When I got my letter, i flashed back to sense, restored the stock prl, and netflixed for about 4 hours to build up a sh1t ton of "in network" data, then flashed back to the vzw prl like a week later LOL Heres the bottom line tho, most places ya go nowadays has wifi, and if youre mainly using that, then youre prolly gonna be good to go as voice connection uses your 1x radio, which (apparently) they could give a crap about. ::clink clink:: hear that? that was me throwing 2 more cents into the pot :D

Well, mine sat in its box for like 4 mos cuz i get great service in the vzw prl, but the place i had it set up at initially was at my aol apartment, and now it currently resides at my job (approx. 7 or 8 miles away) and i didnt do anything to wipe the data from it and i used the gps thingymajiggy(i think hockey puck best describes it LoL) in both locations. It did take about 20 min to attain full "target lock" after i presented it to the router its connected to, but Im betting that since its never been the primary mac address assigned to a modem, its likely considered as a floater, or whatever :) I bring up the primary device thing cuz its never had a single ip address associated with it, but could easily have NOTHING to do with that. Im just letting the Monster energy beverage work its magic via my fingers on this keybard basically LoL SQUIRREL!!!!

Update: I called Sprint and played the derp roll and I should have an airave to fix service at my house. Once I bitched about the service at work they told me the tower for that location is having "tech upgrades." That was surprising to be because its the best tower in the area. With 2-3 mbps down and 1-2mbps up. The lady also said it should be up and working today (which it is but at half the speed of old) i wonder if this means that i will be getting 4g lte.
