Root It's Official...

Well guys I am finally getting a Evo3D because of my recent episodes with replacements and I should be getting it tomorrow or Thursday

I just wanted to say thanks for everyone's help during the past months and I will still be poking around since my girlfriend still has the OG Evo.

And to anyone that has the Evo3D what are your recommendations for roms and such? Also are there any roms that do not support the 3D camera?

Sad to see ya go. You didnt need to spend an upgrade on it did you?

Good luck with rooting it. I know the H-boot 1.5 can be a pain. I'm interested to know if they made downgrading it any easier.

Nope didn't waste a upgrade on it, it's going to be a pre-owned phone so hopefully there will be no problems and if there is I have the guys direct number lol.

Well nolomit, I know aamikam has a 3D and he has mikrunny. Sweet ROM. I ran it for a hot minute, then the wife made me take my 3vo back.

There is a downgrade method to get full s-off, jerofld can give you a hand with it, or hit up me or ocn.

Unless of course you're lucky enough to get a 1.3 or 1.4 hboot

I doubt I will be that lucky, each phone I have gotten has been fully updated so far so I doubt the 3VO will be any different

Yeah I have the 3vo and I love it. The screen its small though, but very fast. I'm on the mean rom and battery life with just the stock kernel which is the anthrax kernel is amazing. Haven't had the time lately to flash anything. But there are plenty of ics roms out now.

I think you will like it. Gonna spend a little extra and get the evo lte when it comes out.

There is a guy who made a custom CD with easy to follow directions for downgrading the 1.5 Hboot.

There is also a custom recovery that works with the HTC unlock 1.5 bootloader pretty well from what ive read. My 3d came with 1.4 so I haven't had to use it.

We just got a Virgin Mobile leak of Sense 3.6 Android 4, but DO NOT flash the firmware update. You can run some of those roms on the older firmware though.

As for the screen size it's actually 4.3" just like the OG but it's taller and 1mm thinner so it it looks smaller lol. I think I will be happy and thanks for the links! I will be around since my GF still has her Evo and does not have any problems *knocks on wood*

It was sent today so it's due for delivery Friday

Well some dumbass sent my package to a zip code the does not even exist! So now I have to call them and have them correct the damn issue and my phone will be delayed by several days I am sure. Thanks a lot Sprint!

They just sent out another phone via UPS Next Day Air but the site just says "Ready for UPS" so I guess I still won't get the phone until next week. Oh well what can I do?

Not sure yet lol, I will probably be keeping it as a backup and something to test ROMs and such with but I will let you know if I decide to sell it

I'd count that as a win also. One phone for business, one phone for fun. Or a backup, in case of damage.

OR....

Image this situation... someone really wants you to have their number (I'm picturing that episode of the office where Michael watches Ryan put his number into his phone...).

Well, from you left pocket you pull out phone 1. They plug in their digits and away you go. Only, they don't realize that you have the real working phone in the right pocket!

(but it'd probably be bulky carrying around two phones, not to mention you could just delete it.... ??)

Got both this morning, one is a refurb and one is brand spanking new in the box :eek:

The refurb has HBOOT 1.5 and the new one has 1.3 so I think I am good to root but I am unsure if I can run and of the ICS stuff on 1.3, I have messaged Ocn but I have not gotten a reply lol
