Help Battery Life SUCKS! There I said it...

Bottom line is if your phone is trully "just sitting on the ground next to you....on wifi" if it has a decent, consistant cell signal it should be able to sit there untouched for atleast 48 hours before the standard battery dies. If it can't do that something is wrong with it. All other tests have way too many variables. I suspect most of the people complaining look at the phone every 3 minutes to see where the battery is, considering it takes atleast that long for the phone to fully sleep that explains the problem. Use your phone when you need it or when it gives you a notification, don't look at it every 3 minutes, don't look at it because someone next to you got a notification or call. Etc.

Bah. I bought my phone to check it every three minutes so I'm going to keep complaining. :p

So outside of ensuring the Car Panel app is shutdown, it's appearing the winner is...............4G!

I turned it off and there's been a NOTICEABLE difference in battery life. Still not great by any means, but tolerable. Though this begs the question "If this was supposed to be a great NEW phone with 4G technology and you can't leave it ON, what's the POINT?????"

Read. It isn't hard to find why LTE is such a battery drain right now, it's been well documented. Bottom line? No one forced you to buy a 4G phone, you're welcome to go back to a dumb phone if the speed isn't worth the battery cost...or you could just take the 5 seconds it takes to toggle it off and on.

Good ole 4G...

Like with 3G...the better the reception area....the better it will be on battery life. I can use my Droid X at work...and it would die quicker vs. using it at my kids mother house.

4G is just a battery drainer right now. The better LTE tech is coming.

I used to use it like I use Wifi....only when I need it. And to me thats not a bad idea or compromising. Verizon's LTE network still has some kinks to work out.

Of course I read, and read , and read! There's "will drain the battery more" and just plain ABSURD. I guess where I am it falls on the latter. By "Absurd" I mean ate battery life as in "How could they release the phone like that?" with no indication that 4G was the cause through any metering available even with the phone rooted. There's no need to be such a toolbag about it. Some of us have a life and can only devote so much time as to why the phone doesn't really work as advertised. Perhaps I wasn't "forced" to buy a 4G phone, but contract was up and the rezound was one of the few 4G phones available at the time. IME you buy the most advanced tech possible given the same price, because it will be old tech soon enough! 5 sec to toggle 4G would be great. Perhaps it would be 5 seconds if there were some apps that actually WORKED for 4G toggle and this phone. So far not really, at least one that is cohesive without scattering random apps all over the screen. Curious how fragmented/unified the code actually are for these phones. I'm a java dev by trade, so it's not unrealistic provided I had the time to take a crack at it.

In the meantime, I'll poke around in menus to flip 3/4g everytime I want to use the internet cause THAT is a lot of fun!

I don't use an app to toggle 4G. I simply pull down the notification bar choose Quick Settings and turn on / off Mobile Network. I timed myself doing just that 5 times and it takes about 6 seconds on average. Since I use LPP+ I have my dock programmed to open network settings when I swipe the app drawer button and can turn on WiFi or 4G in 3 seconds. I figure the time and battery I save swiping and turning on 4G allows me to turn on the phone 40 more times a day just to look at it and think about how bitchin it really is...

I owned a Rezound for 6 months and I don't think there's any way around the fact that the battery was sub par. I still liked the phone and carried a spare battery. But major hardware and software glitches showed up as I went through 5 Verizon replacements. I reluctantly asked Verizon to replace the Rezound with a Razr Maxx which they did. Maxx has been solid with astounding battery life. I miss the Rezound's great display quality a little bit, but the Maxx screen is pretty darn good and overall the Maxx is a pleasure to use.
