Well I definitely do not want the $$$ back as long as once the phone is available it will auto ship to my address. :) :) and i also just noticed this I'm not sure if there are to many users on here that use sprint football and I know this isn't the correct forum for this post but given the current situation with crapple and there REDICULOUS patent withholding our devices in customs I just went to sprint football as I'm a hardcore new England fan but besides that I was greeted with a statement from sprint declaring sprint football live is no longer being offered and they had added that i can download a different app( sportscaster) which I did end up downloading and i soon learned that app crashes HTC sense on my EVO 3d every time you close the app!! :( :( :(

Isn't it a bit odd when sprint got the iphone deal with crapple they started taking away anything they could to cut costs except UNLIMITED DATA THAT'S ALL THAT WE HAVE LEFT just like when Verizon and at&t got that PEICE OF crap phone they got rid of unlimited data and such to cut costs...well now not only did Apple screw us from getting our new phone's due to a bullcrap patent now sprint has also taken away this!!!! I just got this message!!!!

Screw APPLE!!!! first our phone's get delayed at customs over a bullcrap patent and now sprint is doing away with anything to cut costs and it all started the week they got a deal with crapple for that crap phone!!!!! Isn't it funny how apple has practically crippled all 3 major cellular providers and if the providers didn't buy their product that PEICE OF crap phone would be absolutely nothing!!!!! This is REDICULOUS UGHHH SCREW YOU CRAPPLE! This is WORSE THEN WAL-MART !!!!! WALMART is well over 50% to blame for our CRIPPLED ECONOMY AND STUPID APPLE PRACTICALLY CRIPPLED OUR CELL PHONE PROVIDERS!!! I am amazed apple has been able to get away with such funny business like this and let alone just like Wal-Mart...I thought that's what certain gov't agencies were set up for in the first place to oversee and prevent such businesses from doing such activities like these! But that's just my opinion and either way apple sooner then later we will have our beloved HTC devices or in a more general statement we will continue our LOVE FOR ANDROID AND OUR HATE FOR CRAPPLE !!! UNTIL THE END ANDROID ALL THE WAY!!

I think getting rid of early upgrade cushions as well as the whole premier yearly upgrade thing is just another example of monetizing. I guess why offer early upgrade dates and free yearly upgrades when you can make plenty money off of the buyout program. people clearly are willing to pay money to buyout their contracts just so they can have the new hotness, so makes perfect sense to do away with these types of things at least until sprint starts staying in the black. they need all the dough they can get their hands on to pay for NV, reduce that iPhone debt, and keep their unlimited plans. gotta do what ya gotta do.

this is too funny...probably because there's some truth in it. at the same time though, apple just makes the product...they don't force people to buy it...

Sweet I just called Sprint. Since I agreed to pay $40+ to upgrade early based on the LTEvo, you can call to have this not be charged, but your upgrade date will be reverted back
to the original date. So call back once you receive the phone if you agreed to do this and you might not have to pay as much if anything at all.

Ok, I think that the idea that Sprint did this knowingly is completely false.

Here's why -

I recall back on May 4, we were all looking forward to our pre-order on the 7th, and that we were all expecting a release with June, with some chatter about a rumored May release date.

Sprint could have taken just as many orders with the June expectation of delivery. They knew it. I expect that most here would have agreed with me back a few weeks ago, June 1 release would have been peachy.

And with the Sprint insider that leaked this (link for his blog coming below in reply to Sauske) saying that with the delay, they expect to release 10 days later, still within May, that all tracks.

So - maybe I'm wrong, but I'm going to place about 0.00000000% percent of the blame for this on Sprint, and about 0.000000000000000% on HTC.

This is Apple at work. They've known for some time that HTC is in compliance with the court ruling. They're simply flexing their legal muscles through a technicality.

And I think that anyone blaming the carrier, or getting upset over the incident (which, probably does something psychologically to the view of HTC - as in the dumb blog comments out there that poor Apple needs to protect their IP) - well, I think that's exactly what Apple wants you to do, think and feel.

If they refuse to give you your money back now (I don't think they can do that), then wait when the phone releases and return and get your refund!

The insider's blog explains their convoluted ordering system -

Why you can’t cancel your Sprint Order Inside Sprint Now

~~~~~~~
Anyway, hope this helps, here's the tl/dr takeaway -
Blame Apple, not Sprint.
That's my opinion, anyway.
I agree, keeping funds for n.vision is very smart. But at the same time just like at&t and Verizon had to do away with such incentives and such once they struck a deal with apple. I do not believe doing away with all your unique incentive programs or unlimited data to provide an IPHONE is fair. Apple aka iPhone's would have no cellular service if the carriers chose not to carry said device(s) so why should we non crapple users and the cell carries themselfs take a bullet for apple? Let alone when apple pulls this crazy patent b.s they lose revenue like in this case for instance the lack of these two major phones for at&t and sprint not only decrease customer service for both parties but sales, and these two phones played largely in upgrading 4g networks on both networks, and promoting android's newest platform 4.0 so this is a HUGE blow too at&t and sprint as well as HTC!!
Lack of sales, upset customers, and lack of android 4.0 power house devices, and lack of 4g LTE devices for both parties which was a large part of promoting 4g LTE for both networks and now thanks to Apple they have put a large halt on their plans to further produce sales and carry 4.0 power house phones and let alone in both networks cases 4g LTE capable devices! This was the push towards LTE I feel they both were in need of and the customers on both sides were very happy to see and were anticipating like no other. So apple has officially put a damper on our parade, sprint and at&t's parades as well as HTC. apples stupid insanely obtained patent has effected quite a few parties let alone Google in general by halting phones that would Greatly display there newest platform 4.0 :(
The delay may be days, it may be weeks or longer who knows but given the promo ads and pre orders have already been placed and the anticipation has been built up for quite some time that's a lot of lost $$$ on posters, website promo ads, and a lot of unhappy people in general so apple you have not only hurt two major networks who made the IPHONE POSSIBLE but you have angered a lot of POSSIBLE FUTURE CUSTOMERS. I hope none of us would switch platforms for their crap devices but if you were debating on doing so i hope this type of business practice might change your mind.
I can only imaging if a "real" crisis were to occur!? I understand it's a beast of a phone, but we have absolutely no CONTROL that HTC has to go through a compliance check because of apple! Sprint did not do ANYTHING WRONG in this situation, that cannot be help! Patience is a virtue, well at-least I thought. Let's just hope HTC can resolve this as quickly as possible with the ITC compliance!;)
This what I've been saying!
I was told by Sprint noone has received there orders yet and I called my local Best Buy and was she said oh I am not allowed to tell you if we got our shipment in or not. She said we will call you on Friday but she knew nothing about the delay. I just hope the guy who was going to buy my phone this weekend can wait a bit longer but he's using a phone with a broken screen. I just wish we knew an estimated date like a week later 1 month. End of May June 10th.
As of 8:30pm this eve, my local Best Buy did not have their shipments in when I placed my pre-order. At that time, neither the rep nor I had any idea of the delay. He said that the hyped phones usually arrive via UPS the day prior to official release and that they'll occasionally sell to pre-order customers the night before official release. Looks like we're all dead in the water until further notice. This could be a really bad one for HTC as the Galaxy S3 release date is expected in June. Could have a lot of peeps jumping ship if the EVO release rolls into June. Best Buy website now says: "Coming Soon" on ship and in store pick up.
Update: Just read that HTC stock shares are down 7% in Asian and Euro stock markets upon release of this news.
How about issuing an official statement about the delay in shipping? Yes, if you call Sprint, they will tell you about the delay but why should the consumer have to go do that when Sprint had no issue telling everyone about the "official" release date. Also, how about offering to cancel pre-orders for the people who do not wish to wait until this sorted? It is not my fault that this happened so why should my money be held hostage due to issues in their supply chain?
I agree with everything here.
I got this from over at XDA but figured some of you don't read there and would like to know this info:
Note that steps 1-3 seemed to have worked for everyone but step 4 did NOT work for me and a few others...perhaps it will later today.
I entered in the correct information properly, but I keep getting "Connection timed out" error messages.
Thank You for saying that! I dont care for some of Apples philosophies but it's the same as how some people hate how much reality tv programs are out there. If the public didn't watch so much of it there wouldn't be so much of it on the tube! If the masses stopped buying iPhones they would go away all together.....but they won't stop buying them. Personally, I'm glad they exist, even though I don't care for them, because I believe their existence pushes Android phone makers to put out better products. Just mho.
well kindly take it outside. this is a pre release thread and not a business management 101 thread. Thanks gents. :)
lets try and keep the "what i would do if i ran this company..." posts out of here and just report/post on any updates. this thread is getting off topic.
Also not upset lol. Burgertime and I were simply discussing business management techniques :thumbup:
The only reason I am upset is because Sprint is holding our money hostage. I bought the phone upright which cost close to $600, and for sprint to not refund me my money, and to have no date when the phone is coming out is unacceptable from a consumers standpoint. I should be able to cancel my order and move on. Now I have to buy another phone. If it really is an HTC infringement on Apple then how did the One X and One S release with no issues? I am just very disappointed...
The One X released before the April 19th cut-off date. They are allowing you to cancel pre-orders now since there is not expected resolution date. Yu just have to call 866-789-8292.
FYI,
1) It looks like they are accepting cancellations.
2) The One X is being currently held up too. It's not that they are targeting the release of the LTEvo... it's just "coincidence" that the shipment that is key to the release is being held up.
3) It's alleged infringement, in the sense that I believe HTC is already in compliance, but Apple (ITC? Customs?) is arbitrarily choosing to check/enforce it now.
Let's storm the Long Beach Terminal and free our phones! (I always assume that customs delays occur in LB since that's what the movies have told me)
I was plenty peeved this morning but I've since calmed down and will give them a few days to work through the issue. After that I will request a refund if it's still in limbo as I don't like giving free money to major corporations. Then I'll just skip the pre-order nonsense and pick up the phone when it does appear.
What really chaps me is the fact that my current phone is dying a slow death and I'm not sure how long the old girl has left.
I'm going to wait until Monday before I make a decision to get a refund. But I suspect I may wait. The S3 is on the horizon, but I've not had good experiences with Samsung. Thus, my switch to HTC.
But to interject another payment of .02, I believe in one of the Reuters articles, this has been going on for a month (the phones are here, but customs have held them for a month now). This may be why there was no definitive date at the time the pre-orders were opened up. This could be a case of getting caught on the bad side of a judgment call. But yes, I can put the hate on crApple (I never cared for them to begin with) but I can also question the decisions at Sprint.
However, I believe we all need to remember just how complicated it is to put a product out, especially when it comes to timing, competition, contractors, sub-contractors, legal compliance, etc, etc, etc. Sprint made the call, the call backfired, they're scrambling to get it right and they're trying to be careful with the info they put out so as not to say something that will create a bigger problem. Many moons ago I worked as a warehouse manager for a small company. Lesson #1, logistics is not always logical.
Probably was mentioned, but, one article said this review has been ongoing for a month.
Question is, why didn't they wait until the review to be complete before announcing release dates?
I get businesses have to continue to plan and so business... But, something tells me the devices will be released on time, and this is either HTC's way of putting pressure on Customs, or a ploy to make Apple look bad.
I have an iPad....could never see myself buying an iPhone (at least not in their current form)....this is def some jankiness....I own sprint stock so I would love for and firmly believe sprint is going to be the comeback kid in a big way as their(our) vision rolls out. they will overtake one of the top two as a business in the near future IMO. fwiw the best buy I ordered from still as of now has me coming in on Friday to pick up EL TEvo, so I'm in the camp that thinks this whole customs thing may only affect the next round...I'm also inclined to think that this whole fiasco may end up helping more than hurting sales for htc....this type of press tends to pique public interest in the subject at hand
