[Official] Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE Pre-release thread - Sprint official launch is Saturday, June 2

How about issuing an official statement about the delay in shipping? Yes, if you call Sprint, they will tell you about the delay but why should the consumer have to go do that when Sprint had no issue telling everyone about the "official" release date. Also, how about offering to cancel pre-orders for the people who do not wish to wait until this sorted? It is not my fault that this happened so why should my money be held hostage due to issues in their supply chain?

They are being sneaky now and are NOT actually holding your money. As another user mentioned. I checked my account as they did and Sprint put the $ against my current bill and left the overage on the account as a credit....getting fishy if you ask me..

Okay not that this is official but HTC'S FACEBOOK had a post by a Facebook user referring to the engadget.com link about the whole issue with apple and customs withholding the EVO 4g LTE and the HTC one x... Well i had noticed his post about 4-5mins after he had posted it and he wondered why HTC hasn't gone on the record with any further info nor has Sprint....well that was about an hour ago and i just checked back thinking I'd see a possibly reply from HTC or another f book user but the complete post has BEEN REMOVED !?!?!? so I'm not sure if that was HTC's doing or what but the post is 100% GONE !!!???

Probably was mentioned, but, one article said this review has been ongoing for a month.

Question is, why didn't they wait until the review to be complete before announcing release dates?

I get businesses have to continue to plan and so business... But, something tells me the devices will be released on time, and this is either HTC's way of putting pressure on Customs, or a ploy to make Apple look bad.

When the court case was going against HTC last year, its stock dropped under thread of import/export embargoes.

When this went down yesterday, HTC stocked as expected, and the Apple blogosphere lit up with how important it is to protect Apple intellectual property (lol) and how people should buy the real McCoy that invented the technology (lollercopters).

So, I think no way did HTC stage this at all.

This is Apple, exercising loophole rights to force an inspection where the outcome is already known in advance - nothing is out of compliance with the court order, HTC complied some time ago.

Blame Apple, not HTC. ;)

If someone is stirring trouble over something that is locked under a court order, then it's no surprise that the post would be suppressed.

There are a lot of conspiracy theories hitting today.

Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. If you're in ranch country and hear hoof beats, look for horses, not zebras.

Apple pulled an underhanded move, now HTC lawyers are having to dance to their tune, with HTC and Sprint getting their hands tied behind their backs - and Apple getting the bully pulpit (remember that term?).

Like someone else mentioned, I would rather they hold my money vs putting it towards my bill. I have medical bills coming up soon and would rather know my phone is already paid for. Also if they apply this to our bills, does this mean when the phone is released we actually have to tell them we want to purchase it again? Guessing they just tack another $211.99 back onto our bill at the time they physically ship. Guess I am in the same boat as others. Just wish for better communication. I work in IT and I know if I have to take a server offline or anything, i like to communicate to the users to let them know. I know it is a smaller scale then Sprint, but i hope to see something soon.

I think the question here "what is the proper course of action?" Should buyers keep their orders to show unwavering support for Android and htc, or cancel their orders in hopes of pressuring sprint into something (offering some firm of consolation, dumping iphone, whatever, not sure). Personally i'm sticking with it to show my unwavering support, a I suggest everyone else does the same to show apple the futility of such *****e baggery.

I also just came across another thought about apple and their REDICULOUS patent they are using to withold our devices at customs... Does this patent also apply to such things as if one were to hit share on a news ad in PHANDROID for instance and you chose to send the "link" VIA text messaging to that specific news ad on PHANDROID what if you did such things would that link violate this patent? Because if so well then HTC isn't the only one who violates this not by any means!!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This is unfortunate but way out of our control and yes it is another reason to throw stones at Apple. They don't just cripple the cell providers but also the manufacturers in "hidden" charges for supplying other customers. Unfortunately that is all I can comment on about apple because of confidenciality (ouch) issues. If anything gets leaked about thier product there are fines that must be paid to Apple on both sides. enough on that.

I will just sit back and wait and enjoy my EVO for a while burning and burning. ;)

I did check my credit card and wirefly just authorized my charge of $119.99. for the EVOlte. I did notice that the authorization was not there neither was a charge for the phone.

cheers.

Well I agree that this all sucks, but waiting a few days, maybe a week, isn't actually all that bad. You won't die from not having a brand new phone.
Yes, Apple is stupid for doing this. Yes, it would be nice if sprint were to say something.
But all of this is out of our hands and I am sure Sprint and HTC are scrambling to do the best they can.

But I looked at the info page on sprint about the EVO LTE, and under pre-orders, it says this...
"Pre-order sold out! Our EVO 4G LTE pre-order inventory has been spoken for. Check back soon for the national launch."

So there may be some hope for us who pre-ordered it to get it on time, this might only mean that the people who didn't won't get it till a later time.
All this is, is hope though.

No, this applies to things like sending a phone number via sms or a website address, all in plain text, and the app knowing what to do with that by giving you a context menu so you can call or web surf automatically.

I'm going by memory here.

And yes, that's all been done long before the iPhone even existed or was thought of.

But thanks to the updates on the patent laws... well, you know the rest.

Yes, it's ridiculous.

Well now this man has some great thinking! I was thinking that same thing secretly my friend but at the same time when reality kicked in I came back to reality :( Id like to think your right as well because if they already somehow had stocked up before the itc stepped in then maybe the pre order's if there is enough to fulfill the pre order demand maybe just maybe they will ship out our's but unfortunately reality tells me that my hopes are too high :( but we can hope :)

I'm curious to see if Sprint or HTC will give out credit, etc... for this hiccup. I won't cancel if i already placed an order and can wait for the delivery.

Why would they? It's not their fault! I wouldn't deem it necessary to have them issue any form of credit, as Apple get away with murder, I only see the blame placed on the two companies that has nothing to do with anything!?;)

Agreed. We don't need Sprint or HTC losing any more money. It only would benefit Apple and other carriers.

Agreed, this is certainly not Sprints fault. If it turns out that there is no violation of patent infringement, I would like to see ATT, Sprint, and HTC team up and sue crApple for damages.

I know ya'll are not advocating for this, but I'm definitely not a fan of this kind of attitude that's been cropping up more and more lately -- trying to get companies to throw something in extra in the name of "customer service" any time anything happens that a consumer can put on the pretense of getting upset about.

As far as what's been made known, this is as unexpected, unforeseen, and out of the current control of HTC and Sprint as is a factory explosion, cargo ship sinking in a storm, or earthquake. Would we want or demand some form of consolation then? How cheap would that be?

I think the only appropriate thing is to let consumers cancel their phone if they want to (knowing the risk that they will be put at the back of the preorder queue of they make that decision) and say "Sorry, but it's out of our hands."

This is UNBELIEVABLE. I am so mad right now. They better be putting in better components into the phone to make up for this lost time. 2.0ghz Quad core processor, 2GB RAM at a minimum.

Now that would be awesome. Now if only could get some pixie dust. :) Why stop there? I think LTEVO should print money and transforms into a plane fly me off on a vacation. :D
Just having fun and adding some levity to a serious situation :p

My OG EVO is out of warranty. I think I'll try and install Windows on it :) (j/k)

Keeping the faith.
