Hello! I'm a latecomer to the party - had to do an unscheduled upgrade after my rooted DInc made a suicidal leap from my pocket. I toyed with the idea of a Nexus, since I enjoy modding my phone and playing with different ROMs, but I live in a poor signal area, which looked like it might be a dealbreaker. Hence the Rezound.

Anyway, while the Rezound appears to be a worthy successor to my Incredible in most regards, I am experiencing problems with overheating when I'm at home (and only then). The 3G connection comes and goes, occasionally dropping to 1G, about the same as with my Incredible. But I get the red/green blinking light fairly often if I try to do much of anything with the phone, like read an ebook. I have 4G turned off, by the way, and have experienced the issue with both the stock and extended battery. I have the impression it may be worse when plugged into the charger, but I need to test that further. I installed System Panel to see if I had a runaway app, but nothing is leaping out at me. I'm running Launcher Pro and haven't rooted yet, so Sense is running underneath, but LauncherPro doesn't seem to be consuming that much CPU. I have a static wallpaper and the screen set to about 50% brightness. The problem goes away if I put the phone in airplane mode.

I realize I haven't yet done everything possible to troubleshoot this thing (I suppose a hard reset and running it bone stock for a while might be in order), but does anyone have any suggestions/ideas? Is this sort of thing usual for the Rezound in a poor signal area? Might rooting and a good bloatectomy help?

I've had my Rezound for about 2 months now. Like you, I'm not rooted and I'm running Launcher Pro +. I'm in a solid 3G environment at home and work. I occasionally travel to 4G coverage. My phone has no overheating issues. That includes USB charging, home charger, or car charger. Everything about this phone has been great. It's a worthy replacement for my Dinc. Hope you get your issue figured out.

Someone else had some similar problems a while back if i remember right. The latest stock firmware is fairly stable so it came down to a hardware problem with either the battery or the phone itself. It ended up that the other person just happened to have a lemon of a Rez and, unfortunately, it sounds like you do also. I'd call Verizon Tech support and you'll probably end up with a replacement that will work better. I'd just ask to make sure they send you a new battery and a new phone just to make sure.

Ouch, that's what I'm afraid of. The problem seems to come from it fighting for a phone connection - I need to double check, but my impression is that turning off mobile data doesn't help, but going into airplane mode does.

I only see the red/green flashing while charging, and it stops when I unplug. Am I correct in thinking this means the phone is hot enough that charging has shut down? A couple of times I've seen the red flash that on my DInc meant it was hot enough so I should turn it off, but generally if I unplug the Rezound the flashing stops entirely. Is it normal for the red flash to be triggered by a higher temperature than the red/green flash? I suppose it would make sense for it to be that way.

I'm going to play around with charging at work to see if I can replicate the issue or if it only happens in low signal areas.
