First of all, no, I am still 100% Stock (as in NOT ROOTED).

First of all, link here: SGH-I717UCLE2 "Official" Leak - xda-developers

It REALLY looks like this may be the final build, or REALLY close to it. This has ALL of the AT&T bloat-ware, none of the SPen issues and the full Premium Suite installed.

The only issue people have really been reporting that others can reproduce is the Home Key.

Issue: Pressing the home key does not return you to the Home Screen
Resolution: Press it a few times until you get to the Home Screen and you should not have this issue again.

Notes: I had this issue, pressed it a few times and poof, it worked and have not had the issue since.

Installation Notes:

I can only speak to those that are STOCK and NOT ROOTED.
BACKUP ALL CONTENT IN THE SDCARD FOLDER!! (this WILL be wiped)
When you power off, remove your external SD Card (Just in case)

Installation Steps:

1. Make sure you have the drivers installed: Support - AT&T Cell Phones SGH-I717 | Samsung Cell Phones

2. In order to get One-Click Odin to work, you have to put your phone into download mode. To do so, unplug your phone from USB, turn off your phone, hold VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons, once you see the prompt to put your phone into download mode press VOLUME UP, plug your phone back into USB.

3. Wait for drivers to install (if they are not already installed)

4. Launch the EXE (this file includes ODIN, so no need to worry about getting it).

5. When your Com shows up and is yellow, then click START

DO NOT UNPLUG OR TOUCH YOUR PHONE. Make a mistake here and you have problem. :(

By doing this, you take the life of your phone into your own hands. This is not official, but with everything that works and from personal experience with this build, I am happy I made the jump!! :D

I don't do Vids, but what screen shots would you like to see? Touchwiz does not really look any different, so at first glance, it looks like it always has.

Please check back in after 24 hours of playing around and update us. I'm VERY interested in doing this and tired of waiting for the official release. Thanks!

I'll report back tomorrow. One of the biggest things that kept me out of this was left handed SPen, which works like a charm in this build.

Let me know what all you want to know and I'll do my best to accommodate.

Thanks!

what about the benchmarks and performance ?

what about the benchmarks and performance ?

Benchmarks aren't really worth a crap, so I tend to go with real world usage.

Right now, the ROM is smooth and all of the laggy issues that I noticed with GB is gone. Calls are even better and smoother, less issues with the dialer hanging. SMS and MMS are working as expected.

I don't like TouchWiz on ICS because we lose the Folder options (drag icons on top of one another to create folders).

Other than that, LOVE IT! :D

i don't think this version is stable because i noticed lots of bugs .everything is hanging up .sometimes the gallery doesn't open.camera is lagging compared to 4.0.3 which has leaked before.so i rolled back to 4.0.3 its better as of now .

no folders???

No folders on the home screen, but that is a limitation of TouchWiz. I am using Nova Launcher now and it works like a charm! :)

You posted this exact same comment on XDA. You are the only one to report these issues, so I would suggest you do a full wipe or re-flash the ROM.

Hope that helps!

Now, as for my ~24 hour report.

(Please keep in mind this is STOCK (NOT ROOTED) so please no suggestions on "fixing that" with rooted solutions. We can strike up a discussion in the root section for that). :)

Still NO ISSUES at all. This is rock solid. Performs great for everything and fixes many "annoying little things" that GB did.

1. I listen to Audio Books on the bus (when I am not listening to music). The players that I have tried always paused/stopped playing when switching tracks when the screen was off, so I had to hit the power button to turn it on for it to resume. With ICS, this is no longer an issue.

2. When watching movies and whatnot, I try to remember to put my phone on vibrate, so when a notification comes in with the sound on during audio/video playback, it would take a second for the sound to start playing and would take a second or 2 for the sound to resume on whatever I am doing. ICS does not have this issue, it just plays the notification and moves on.

3. Slight lag after waking from sleep. Yeah, this happens to us all. Wake from sleep, unlock phone, hit a widget (like Circle Launcher) and lag. Or in other areas. Not an issue with ICS anymore.

4. USB Mounting will periodically stop working for whatever reason and you have to reboot your phone to get it to work again. ICS fixed that (so far).

I am sure I can find other things that are working better, but overall, I have to give this release a 10/10 score above GB.

Now, a couple annoying things...

I have noticed that GMail notifications can be delayed by 5-20 minutes from when I get the notification toast on my desktop/laptop to when I am notified by my phone.

When in Dolphin Browser and watching a Flash Video on a web page and making it full screen, it does not keep the screen alive.

Not sure why with ICS, but with GB, never was an issue.

If you are using a 3rd party Launcher, the Wallpapers are zoomed in really bad. Use Quik Pic to set the wallpapers and it looks fine.

If you like Scrolling Wallpaper, then use a 3rd party launcher.

Now, the elephant in the room... Battery Life...

Now, everyone that has been following battery threads know that for whatever reason, I get pretty damn good battery life for my stock battery on GB. With ICS, I still get great battery life, but not as great as I did on GB. Not sure why, but overall, it's still more than acceptable without 3rd party power management apps for me.

Thank you Talderon for the update. One question about ICS: Do MMSs show the picture normally now, or do they still come in the slideshow format? Not a big deal, just annoying!

I have only been sent and MMS with one picture and it showed up fine, so not sure if it has to be more than one pic.

Let me do more testing and get back to you. :pcguru:

I have had no issues with the camera at all. I really don't play many games so I can't account for how that one plays.

hm..never used the launcher before...how does it effect the battery life?

I used to be a devout Nova launcher fan but recently moved over to Apex; seems to play nicer with UCLC and UCLE ICS roms for some reason.

In either case though, no matter what launcher you use, you won't typically experience lag due to the launcher itself. More usually, lag comes from the ROM itself (if you're running a custom one) and even more usually comes from the way you have the launcher configured to work. In other words, do you have 47 widgets across 9 home screens with all transition effects turned on, etc? This will obviously slow performance down.

I personally am down to one home screen with my APW Twitter widget taking up about 75% of the screen and my calendar and S-Note apps tucked in a custom folder on same screen. All of my other must-use apps along with app folders are parked on my scrolling dock bar for quick access. This setup might not be optimal for everyone, but I can tell you that my Note runs with near PC-quickness using this setup and absolutely no FC's anywhere.

Well, I took the plunge yesterday and so far, so good. My only mistake was not ensuring I had backed up my password keeper and confirming I could access my original Dropbox sync. I eventually recovered everything or used help desks to reset my important passwords, however, if I had thought to do that back up separately from my phone back up, I would have been fine.

I have not noticed any difference in performance. I used Go Launcher prior to the update and continued afterwards because I figured there was nothing to lose. It has worked fine so far.

My battery life seems to be on par with what it was before but one day is hardly enough time to judge.

I'll report any issues if they arise. Thanks for the instructions and link. It was painless to update.

Running since yesterday....I would agree with everyone else here (solid in every way). I am having a small issue with the battery, I was at like 7% last night and plugged it into the wall next to my bed as I usually do but this morning (7hrs later) the battery was only at 76% That seems a little low to me but I don't usually get down to that low of a battery so I am holding final judgement on this rom until I get it to 100%. Will let you know how it goes.

P.S. Changed to PowerSave mode to see if that will improve on my battery charging.

Where did the handy screen brightness shortcut go? I used to hold the status bar and swipe left to right to adjust screen brightness. Did this feature not make it into ICS?

Might work again when ICS is released (not leaked versions, but from actual source), although all 5 of the ICS roms I've run to this point no longer allow notification bar swipe for brightness control.

However, the ROM I'm running now allows you to modify toggle widgets in notification bar, and brightness control is one of the options.

The ROM's here: [RoM] ~ [UCLE2] ~ TEAM PERFECTION'S ICS OBJECTION ~ 5/22 --> {Extended Power Menu} - xda-developers

Hi Talderon,

I just noticed your post regarding folders on the home screen.

Are you saying they took the setting away? It was available on GB TouchWiz, but no longer on ICS? That doesn't make sense. Or is it because it's AT&T messing with the ROM again?

Or did I misinterpret what you meant?

FoldersonHomescreen.jpg

This is on GB stock ROM (not rooted) using default TouchWiz launcher. I don't have any 3rd party launchers installed on my Rogers Note i717R (Canadian).

What I meant was you can't drag icons on top if one another to create folders which is an ICS feature.

The way ICS does it and older versions of Android (and TouchWiz) do folders is different.
