Root Sorry.. Maybe bricked phone?

Hey guys..

Ive commented on this forum a fair few times, and its always impressed me how quickly everyone has got back to me and how helpful everyone is!
im sorry for coming to you with another bootloop problem!!

however my phone wont go past the first phase!
im not quite sure what i did.. im used to switching between roms fairly often..
factory reset before each one.. but this time it just never turned on
i cant get onto anything by pressing volume buttons whilst turning on..

not quite sure what to do.
any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

1. What exactly were you doing when this happened? (the more details the better).

2. Have you taken out the battery and help the power down for about 20 seconds, then put the battery back in before trying to get to recovery or download mode?

I havent used my phone for about 2 weeks, it was on the open kang rom.. I decided to change it to bkernel v2.2.. downloaded it wiped the phone and installed zip.
tried to turn it on been stuck on the opening google sign since.

The battery was only 25% when i tried this so that could have been the problem, i am currently trying to charge it up to see if that will push it over.
the only way i can get it to turn off is via battery out, so i have tried that many times...

1. I don't believe bkernel 2.2 supports AOKP (it's for the stock based ROMs). So if you didin't change to a stock ROM that's why the boot loop.

2. When you pull the battery are you leaving it out and holding power down for 20-30 seconds? Or just pulling it?

Yes, pull the battery and hold the power button while it is out for a good 30 seconds. Then put the battery back in and try to boot into recovery (power and both volume buttons).

so thankful right now..
that did the trick.

just so i dont make that mistake again..

well, bkernel is just a kernel, not a complete ROM. If you want to use that kernel, you need to use a stock based ROM. He also has a CM7 kernel. but that is like 1.7 or something. Check out the ROM list here: http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/385385-guide-motorola-triumph-all-things-root-guide-updated-04-22-2012-a.html (they are all under the heading ROMs, and have instructions on how to flash them in the ROM thread itself).

I would just stick with flashing a ROM and using the kernel it comes with until you are more comfortable about how it all works.

Yeah even though my froyo is at 2.2 and cm7 is at 1.4 they are pretty much identical aside from cm7 specific changes!

But yeah kernels are only made for certain roms mainly because of the ramdisk a.k.a the initram which is a aeperate part of the kernel that loads the rom up at boot. So a froyo ramdisk is going to be different from a ics or gingerbread ramdisk. Hope that helps clear it up!
