[Verizon] [AOSP] LIQUIDSMOOTH-v1.4 (5/18/12)

Thanks for the reply. Messing with that didn't help though. I might just try to revert back to the stock ROM to see if it persists, if it does, then I guess I have a bad sensor and will have to RMA the phone under warranty :(. I know the sensor worked fine at one point though, so it's weird that it would just randomly die .

Randomly die does not sound plausible if it comes and goes. Wasn't sure if setting a specific time would solve the problem or not. I could not find anything else on the matter
hmmmm.gif
.... Hope you get it figured out soon!

not plausible...but that doesnt mean it cant....did it to me once now. but I normally use speaker phone...not sure whats going on here. If you figure it out let us know....Thanks!

Most roms do not contain the radios. There is a section of the forum called "all things root" that has a link to roms and such in it. It also has a link to all the available radios for the nexus. I myself am using the leaked 4.0.3 radios. I hardly ever lose my data anymore at all. I tried them all out and these work the best for me. They are really easy to flash.

Has anyone noticed worse cell signal with Liquid 1.4? I upgraded from 1.3 a couple days ago, and I've noticed I lose service much more frequently now. On a related note, how can you determine what radios you have? In other words, does flashing Liquid 1.4 grant you 4.0.4 radios? If not, where can you get them? Thanks for any support.

This link should answer your questions. the ROM doesnt contain the radios.

I haven't noticed any change in signal quality from 1.35 to 1.4

I have three question to ask.

First of all i have version 1.3 and when im on the internet or playing games my phone randomly reboots by its self. anyone have any idea why?

Secondly i try to back up my liquid settings and every time i try it a pop up appears on my screen and says "this is whats going wrong" and i have no idea what its referring to. it just has a long list of items. it starts of by saying, Found Value and lists something, then repeats. i would attach a screen shot of what it says, but im new to rooting and new to this fourm and rules say i cant post images until i have more posts.

Third, i want to upgrade to version 1.4. Do i have to do a total system wipe and wipe the dalvik cache? Or can i get away with just wiping the dalvik? since im just moving up versions, not switching from some other rom to liquid.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

OK I can answer your third question. I just wiped dalvik cache and upgraded to 1.4 and everything works fine.

I'm not having signal issues with 1.4 and I don't know how a ROM (without radios included) would affect reception performance. Something had to have changed in your environment for those changes to take affect.

The only issues I'm having now are the Proximity sensor not working (as stated before; I think it's hardware but haven't wiped or changed ROMs to try it again) and I'm seeing a lot more FCs in the stock browser lately. Yesterday I couldn't even find words on a page without it locking up and closing on me.

Also, another minor annoyance is that it takes like 10 seconds for the WiFi widget in the notification bar to respond to input when you turn it off. Turning on is instant. I've noticed this in all previous Liquid ROMs and was hoping they would fix it soon. In previous ROMs that had that same widget option in the notification bar, it would respond immediately (dimming the icon while shutting off the WiFi radio, then turning off completely).

Hope this does not steal the thread, but I need to know how to save my launcher settings with the liquid ROM. I am not sure if I do this with the Liquid ROM (the back up in the settings seems to just apply to the ROM settings) which includes APEX launcher. Do I need to go Pro with the APEX launcher to get to save my launcher screens? I am tired of rebuilding them when I upgrade to the latest ROM. Is there a file that I can save using titanium Back up?

Thanks

Just switched over to LiquidSmooth from the Cyanogenmod 9 Nightlies on the recommandation of a friend. So far it's pretty nice.

As I still have some getting used to, one thing I've noticed is that my notifications appear in the status bar when they are received, but then disappear after a bout a second. For example, an email comes in, it notifies me, but the little Gmail icon disappears after about a second or two. Is there a way to keep the icon in the statusbar until I dismiss it? Can't seem to find the right setting for this. TIA.

you can back up your homescreen with apex launcher and you do not need to upgrade to pro. However it will not save the widgets on your home screens so you will have to replace widgets.

I qouted the wrong post here.....this was to the guy asking about backign up homescreens in apex launcher

I was having the same exact problem. I think somewhere along the way I changed the notification (Icon) to black.

How to fix:
In the main section of Liquid Control under Statusbar: select General. Scroll all the way down to the bottom selection (Notification Color). I opened that up and deleted the text where the prompt says Hex: press Set and it will change to #ffffffff. Now just back out and all your notification should stay until you dismiss or check them.

Update for how my 4g/3g drops out that ive noticed. On occassion an incoming phone call will cause loss of 4g/3g. Ive noticed a few times because ive been on data when the phone call comes in. After hanging up everything stays with no data. Reboot the phone and everything comes back. Went back to 1.35 and didnt have this issue. Have the newest radios and didnt change them when i reverted to 1.35. Maybe 1.4 doesnt play well with the radios? No clue personally what could cause this but it doesnt give problems on 1.35 so im pretty sure its not a hardware issue.

I'm running LiquidSmooth maguro (liquid.maguro.042112.154707), is this even the latest version, because I couldn't find 1.4 for maguro??

Anyway, I just had this very peculiar issue; my GN was just lying on the table and I picked it up to check whatever, and I immediately notice the phone is very warm, and when I press the screen on button nothing happens.. so I had to battery pull to reboot the phone.

I have no idea what caused this, I have not overclocked the phone, I've only enabled "GPU Acceleration" in the propmod menu for performance.

Wifi was off when this happened, at first I thought the phone had started running a titanium backup without me knowing and thus heating the phone.
Also the battery was at 80% this morning when I got up, 3 hours later when I noticed this issue it was down to 6%?!

Anyone know anything about this? And is there a 1.4 maguro version to download?

EDIT: I'm also running JuiceDefender on the phone in case there are any known issues with the app.

I'm loving the ROM. Great performance, polished look. Overall a great job.

The only issue I have is that the colors for text messages in GV are very hard to see. It is medium grey on black alternating with medium grey on light grey. Not exactly high-contrast.

How can I change the colors? I was going to uninstall GV and re-install the default version of the app, but there is no way to uninstall it.

Thanks for the help and keep up the great work!

Prolly not specific to this ROM, but has anyone used a MHL adapter with this ROM? I just got one for the first time last week and when I tried using it, it brought my phone to a near stand-still while using it, esp. if I was trying to view any videos (recorded vids, Youtube, saved shows) or playing casual, non-3D games. It was pretty much a slide show and didn't look pretty at all. The whole reason I got it was so I could put emulators on the phone and pair a Wii/PS3 controller to it so I could play them on my TV through my phone.

I tried it with the Franco kernel 1.4 came with and the latest Lean Kernel with Interactive Governor. I've seen vids of people using their Gnex on external monitors and it seems pretty smooth no matter what they do on stock/unrooted ROMs, so I'm not sure what's up with this. I'm using this MHL adapter, which seems pretty reputable on the reviews. And yes, I have it plugged into a wall charger (charging at AC speeds) while I'm using it. It doesn't even output a signal if it's not charging too.

Can't seem to find the setting for this one either:

When I am downloading a file through the browser or the Play store, I get a notification tone repeatedly until it's completed. And then another one when it's installed. Anyone know how to turn off these notifications?

Oh, and a possible bug?

Redraw issue with Gallery:

When I swipe through pictures in my Gallery, after about image number 5 or 6, there is a redraw issue where a previous image will be displayed initially, and then the image will be slowly redrawn with the correct image. I noticed this same behavior in CM9 Nightlies also. Anyone else see this behavior?

TIA!
