Headphone recommendations/discussions (wired/wireless)?

So I ordered a a set of ibeats headphones for my self and a pair of skullcandy 50/50 headphones for my son. I honestly think the skullcandy headphones sound better.

Now I am thinking about getting the 50/50 skullcandy headphones instead of the ibeats..... anyone else try some good headphones with their LTevo?

I also have found that I can't adjust the volume up or down with either pair. Is there a setting that I am missing?

Personally, I love Skullcandy headphones. I plan on buying a red pair to match with the EVO.

I'm not a fan of Skullcandy. They're convenient, because they're sold everywhere and they look good, but not necessarily well made. I use them at work.

Klipsch S4's are good in the $60-$80 range
Sony MDREX310's are good and in the $60-$80 range
MeElectronics probably makes the best cheap ones in the $15-$30 range. I think the M9's are better than Skullcandy's.
JVC and Sony also have some pretty good cheaper ones.

Then you have your Monster and Shure's which can get pricey over $100

I just want a pair that won't short out quickly and leave me with one ear not working. I had a pair of skulls and after a few weeks one ear was already shorted out. not happy

I wasn't as much concerned about price as I am about quality. I ordered the Beats "iBeats" for $100 at BB....but I bought the Skullcandy 50/50 @ $50 for my son....I also found the white iBeats @ Walmart for $97, and grabbed those for my wife. I honestly think the Skullcandy sounds better. But am also looking for the ability to take calls. I drive my dump truck and I legally need to have a hands free device.

I go through earbuds pretty frequently, well until I got the Klipsch, so I've had a lot of experience.

I had the in ear Beats which fit horribly and others have had the same complaint. They don't stay in your ear. Which is magnified if you're active. The iBeats seem to have the same shape. You're essentially paying for a name. They're plenty with better sound and quality that cost less.

Same here from using them at the gym less than a month, twice. Happen with two pair of Sennheiser 300's also. Silly me was thinking maybe I just had a bad pair and not a bad product or one not meant for a active lifestyle.

I like them because of the length of the cord. I'll see what happens at my desk at work, since they have a lifetime warranty :rolleyes:

I have the dre beats "tour" and they sound amazing especially when you click on the enhancer and change the beats settings

I agree.....but I plugged in my sons skullcandy 50/50 ear buds and thought they sound even better..... but neither the ibeats nor the skullcandy 50/50 would let me make volume adjustments.

This phone has really made me want to invest in some good headphones... I'm not usually one to use them.... So let me get this straight... The beats audio Is only in play when using headphones? bc that's the only time the logo appears.... I had an argument with an iphone4s user about this today at work and I'd like to be more educated.. He argues there is no way the phone can enhance the sound of regular headphones and that the beats audio must be a gimmick..

These won't let you make volume adjustments, but before ICS, the play/pause worked with some 3rd party apps. Microphone works.

Some good recommendations here. Other ones to consider in this price range ($50 - $100) are the Vsonic GR06 and Hifiman RE0. Both are excellent sounding for the price, although the Hifiman may not have the best build quality.

For over-ear recommendations, I can't recommend the V-Moda M-80 enough at $200 for a versatile, all-around portable headphone. It has a mid-centric presentation, and sounds very lush and smooth. It plays well with a wide variety of genres and don't have many big flaws. I prefer them over Beyerdynamic DT1350, Sennheiser HD25, AIAIAI TMA-1 and B&W P5s, which are other big hitters in this portable niche.

For price-no-object, go with JHA JH13 Pros can call it a day

Buds:
I really love the Thinksound TS01 earbuds. They're a solid company started by someone who works & lives in the audio world and just wants to create a great product. They have a newer studio monitor series that I haven't tried yet. Even the mic model worked perfectly with my original EVO.

Cans:
Grado SR80i, hands-down. I learned about these back around 2005 or so (they were called SR80 then), and they've served me very well since then. WARNING: They're open-air so (even though they sound amazing) anyone can hear what you're listening to.

For portability, the Thinksounds knock it out of the park. Once I got my first pair I never looked back (I have every model except the studio ones).

Or, you can save $20 by getting the SR60i. Back in 2005, the SR80 came with donut pads so it was worth shelling out the extra cash. But nowadays, the donut pads aren't included until the SR225i and up.

If you don't care about noise isolation (ie. if you will only be listening at home), then the lower-end Grado's are a great bang-for-your-buck gateway into the world of audiophilia. Beware that you may be enticed to dig deeper, though and that can be a slippery slope

Are there any headphones that have playback control that work with Android phones? I had an old mp3 cd player with a jack that had volume and play controls. It's very convenient not to have to take your phone out and turn on the screen to change the track, etc.

Beats audio is a gimmick, all it is is an equalizer. Nothing more. It "enhances" it the same way selecting a different equalizer would.

Well, I picked up my new iBeats Thursday night ....couple things I noticed.... the ability to receive calls, change tracks, and turn up the volume does not work with LTevo. This is the 3rd pair of ear buds I've tried, that supposedly have those functions, but don't work. I am beginning to wonder if its my LTevo......

I use earbuds daily on my motorcycle commute to and from work. I had a $100 pair of Shure phones that were OK, but sound quality was lackluster. Went back to Sony EX 36 (I think, numbers are hard to see). Cost about $30 at BB, last longer, has wheel volume control on the wire and sound quality is much better than the Shures. Haven't tried any other high-end models but as hard as I am on them, I'm very happy with the Sonys.
