Is Google's Nexus worth it?

Is the nexus from Google really worth it's 400 dollar price tag. I was thinking of purchasing it but, I've been hearing reports that later on this year in November that Google will be releasing a new line of Nexus phones. The reason the Google's phone seems very appealing is that it's unlocked and I could go to T-Mobile and use their 30$/50$ plans and escape the 2 year contract other carriers have for the Nexus phone and since I'm looking for a High-End Android phone off contract the Google nexus just seems to make sense. What I'm asking is that should I go ahead and purchase Google's Nexus phone or should I wait later on this year for the new line of Nexus's to come out? I currently don't have a phone, but I'm willing to wait if the phones later on this year are just head over heels better then what the current Google Nexus phone can offer. I would greatly appreciate any input!

The $399 price from the Play Store is a fantastic deal in my mind. It still has top notch specs and the next Nexus is still 6 months away. Plus Google has always supported its phones for at least two years, so you will also be among the first to get Jelly Bean when it rolls out. All good stuff.

It's a bargain.
I am coming from a Verizon variant and I have to say that the GSM version is definitely better in many respects.
Couple that with a $30 T-Mobile prepaid sim card and I just shaved my cellphone bill by more than half. (I don't talk on the phone that much)
I think I developed an aberration to talking on the phone because I never knew how long it was going to last before the call muted or dropped so if anything I should thank Verizon for changing my usage habits.

I also live in a city so coverage is not an issue.

As far as the price, I don't know of anything that comes close for $399 off-contract, unlocked and new.

It was worth it to me. I came over from the dark side (iPhone) and i never looked back. I paid $429 for mine about a month before the play store started selling it. No regrets.

i concur with my fellow greenies

What Anti said. In addition, Nexus phones generally have good resale value so if you're looking to upgrade in less than a year, you should get quite a bit.

I did the same thing, based largely in part to this thread. Thanks for all the input, everyone. It will suck to have to pay the ETF from Verizon, but getting updates direct from Google and a cheaper monthly bill is more than worth it. Thanks again..

Just a newbie thought.
I bought full price the OneX and a week later took it back, hated the Sense overlay just stupid. I then bought a Lumia 900 nice phone not me. I have kept that phone as back up and hopes of Apollo coming out.

I can say I got this Nexus Friday and the phone just rocks. Hands down I am still on contract yet once off prepaid here I come. I hope that Google continues to put our their phones like this.
