Okay well i have a verizon gnex had one since launch day and i love the nexus experience and do not wanna give it up for anything. But im on my dads plan and hes thinking about switching to us cellular to save some money. Is there any way to get this phone activated on their service? If not my only option is their crappy s2 which will never see ics and its not oure google i hate the manufacturers ui's. Also if i cant activate this phone how much should i sell my nexus for. Its in perfect mint condition just got a new one sent to me from verizon, ive had a zagg on and a silicone cover since day one. And i have the extended battery along with the standard battery. If i have to sell this i think i will cry.

In theory, its possible. You can probably get them to activate it. However you may need to find a way to modify the network specific settings.

However, if you do end up selling the phone, you could always buy the GSM Nexus on Google Play for $400 (which I'm sure you could sell the VZW Nexus for at least). Then go the prepaid SIM route. Coverage willing of course.

Their crappy s2 will never see ICS?
My very nice S2 sees it, is it, just fine.

I didn't know these forums reached other planets.

I guess getting your own plan instead of using daddies is out of the question?

Yea yours has it cause your obvisously not with usc. They have not released any info with plans to update it to ics. And yea its pretty crappy imo going from a nexus to that is a huge downgrade imo. Who would ever want to go to touchwiz after pure google?
And my own plan isnt really reasonable right now because im only 21 on my own paying for school and everything else exceot my phone bill so i kinds gotta stay on his plan til im done with school.

But ty for info on the google gsm version. Think he might look intp tmobile now so we can still have a nexus.

No I'm not.

Pure Google? Is that a UI term?
And I don't use tw. It's called Go.

That's cool. School's expensive. And I hope you excel at it.
But I work hard to pay my own. All of it.
You probably would know that a g2 is not a step down from any phone out there if you ever actually held one, which I doubt you have.

is that just a general SGSII date, or is that the specific US cellular date?
source?

TW goes deeper than the launcher. it is in pretty much every aspect of the phone(dialer, messaging, mail, camera, gallery, ect). some of it good, some of it bad. some like it, some despise it. usually once you run stock android, you notice the little things here and there about the skins that bother you.

I have, and IMO, it IS a step down from the nexus...the only thing i like on the SGSII is the camera.
While it is not a bad phone by any means (its acutally like #4 on my fav phones currently behind the OneX,S3,and nexus) you have to admit, TW and the lower res screen really are starting to show their age.

6/11 is when my phone (t-mobile) gets it. the other s2's already have received the u/ds.
And all I know about the Nexus is what I have read. Of course I want one! (well, I really want an S3 now).
And since all I have used is my Hercules, I have nothing to compare it to. So I am extremely satisfied with this phone and don't believe it's a step down from anything (since I'm on "my" top step).
And I understand that after having the N an S2 would be a downgrade, but not "crappie" by any standard.
J'm just envious of the kid (young, just starting out fresh in life), so I wanted to give him a hard time.

Thanks for the replies guys. Thankfully the day before we got the update on our phones Verizon turned 4g on in our area so my dad has decided to stay with Verizon foe the time being. He said he wouldn't switch til us cellular got the s3 but he doesn't think he would even switch then because this 4g is bad a$$.
