Does anyone run a 3rd party wifi manager? One that will switch from Wifi to 3g/4g when the signal gets too low?

Problem: My phone refuses to let go of a wifi signal even if its not there (Most of the time). I was on the freeway for about 20 minutes this morning when I tried to use the text to speech option. It wouldn't return any results but that's when I noticed the phone thought I was on wifi. it showed now signal but the one dot at the bottom....The second I turned it off all of my email and app push notifications came in and I was able to send my txt msg.

Any ideas?

Interesting! I knew there were some subtle differences between the International version and the AT&T thanks to the Apple lawsuits, but I thought that option would be standard across all variants

Would something like this work? I use an app called Unlock With WiFi which does something similar, but it also removes the pin/pattern lock when connected to certain Wireless networks so I don't know if that would be of any use as well (you only get the auto WiFi off option with the paid version)?

That would be one weird option to remove for patent infringement. That's like a car manufacturer not being able to add a dimmer switch cause the other guy is doing it lol.

That would work a lot better if there was an on switch as well! But thats a step in the right direction... Going to contact HTC to see if they have any ideas as well. Maybe I need to turn some other setting on or off to see that option.

So far this seems to be doing what I need it to do... If it works out I'm gonna get the paid app!

and this may be do to other things but my battery is 23% better today as of 10 minutes ago... than yesterday and the day before (Yes, Im lame enough to write it down!).

Wish I knew what app that was because anytime I click on a link in these forums from my hox all I get is white screen... Why is that?

As someone else mentioned, it has been removed from the Rogers brand phones. I don't understand why this would have been taken off. very strange. I just disable wifi if it gets in the way!

If you have AT&T all you need is an app called AT&T smart Wi-Fi auto discnnects Wi-Fi when the screen is off re-connects as soon as you wake up the phone also auto switches 3/4g and as an added bonus it will also auto logins to their hotspots (Mcdonalds, Barnes and Noble, etc...). Also has a nifty little widget to keep statistics as well.

The only problem is I want to be on wifi for push notifications and any background updating while I'm at work... I don't want to eat up my data usage when I could be using a free connection.

That's exactly what the app does, it puts you on wifi as soon as one becomes available either from their free hotspots or the networks you have remembered.

Interesting indeed! I have this setting on my phone - its also an international HOX, from Asia I guess. Just removed the check...hoping this may resolve my dropping WiFi connection issues.

Thanks a lot!

Update.... The last AT&T patch seemed to have fixed the problem (including better wifi signal).

I left my house and about 30 seconds after I felt I was too far away from my wifi it switched to 4g signal... About 2 minutes after I got to work it picked up my un-broadcasted wifi AP. Even my Bluetooth seemed to be acting better but that needs more time because it will work 1 -2 days in a row then it stops.. So I'll see about that one.
