EM - When you go in, just tell them the situation up front...I'm sure they'll get you in there. I'd just explain the situation as far as your upgrade date was concerned being the main reason why you didn't place a pre-order earlier, in order to take advantage of the trade-in deal.

Worst case scenario? They say "no," and you can turn around and see what you can sell it for on ebay/craig's list.

I'm an up-front kind of guy and never try to outfox my friendly local sales reps.

I've called two - one was a mall kiosk, and told them my situation exactly, along with my expectations. The mall kiosk said no problem twice, the store said that 5 were coming but no guarantees they'd have them by Saturday. (edit - in both cases, I'll have to pre-order today)

It's a bit of drive for me, so I have to go visit both and see what's what.

Pray that I don't have to drive into Albuquerque, I'm just a rabbit and sure to take a left turn for sure! :D ;)

CR/fleabay prices are low now, and I'd prefer to avoid the hassle. Trading at BB nets me my best deal, if doable.

Early, I'm not sure if you're into it or not, but you can get your eligibility bumped up free of charge. I've been with Sprint for YEARS... She couldn't even tell me how long. She only knew me as a legacy customer. :D
She was very friendly and pushed my eligibility back to May 1st though. I picked mine up last Thursday night... even if I did leave work early because I was sick. (I really was sick. Just not sick enough to miss getting my phone!)
Erick --

I called Sprint on the 7th, they were happy to bump me to the 18th if I called back on the 17th but only if I bought through them. Thinking that the national release would be the 18th, and that I didn't mind a two-week wait... well, the rest you know, I'm not alone in this boat. :D ;)

If I can't make it work, I'll just wait and look at how to sell my Evo, I guess, in the meantime.

My father, who FINALLY ditched his 7-year-old flip phone with AT&T Wireless and came to Sprint last December, got a shiny new OG EVO back then. I rooted it, put in a 16GB card and partitioned it, and he liked it. However, my dad is one of those who always feels like HE has to be the one in the family with the newest, best gizmo. Consequently, he wasn't pleased when he saw that I(!) got the EVO LTE and why he couldn't. I told him that I was upgrade eligible last July but intentionally waited because I sensed in the Force that a fantastic sequel to the EVO OG would be available. As usual, I was correct.

Well, now my father's telling me, "Find out how much I can sell this 6-month old EVO for and what's the cheapest price at which I can buy a new EVO LTE."

Any thoughts?

well sold my 2 year old OG EVO for $150 on craigslist (granted it had 2 extra OEM batteries and an external charger and leather pouch)

and got my LTEVO at BB for $99 + $49 for the buyback program & insurance

So I basically made $1 to upgrade

and then the accessories came, lol

My midiclorians are painting a picture in my mind that an incredibly awesome sequel to the Evo 4g LTE will come out in a year or two. Therefore my suggestion is that he wait for that sequel so he can outdo your phone.

But if he must sell the Evo now, I would recommend going to craigslist for your area and see what people are asking. Sprint offered me $65 for trade-in which means you can get at least that much. I think $100 is reasonable for an Evo without much wear.

As mentioned on here, can possibly call Sprint and pay to move his upgrade to now.

Then, get into somewhere that has pre order deals, like perhaps Best Buy, and pre order. They may give him $100 for it, or he could sell on Craigslist.

ZepTepi,
As much as I would love to have the new LTE I'm gonna wait a little bit because my upgrade isn't til August for one, and for two lets see how Sprint handles the LTE rollout. I know that I was promised WiMax 4g when I got my OG Evo 20 months ago. It still hasn't happened in my area and now obviously won't. If the LTE isn't available I still will probably purchase the Evo LTE within the next six months or so with one of my upcoming bonus checks, at which point hopefully there will be a special at 149.99 or perhaps even lower. Oh, who am I kidding, if I have 200 bucks August 1st it will be mine. ;)

Message from Wirefly CEO on Facebook...

Good news! I just got off the phone with Sprint management and the stories are true.... Evo's have been released! Our first shipment of Evo's are being shipped to our distribution center no later than tomorrow. We have asked for overnight delivery which means if we get them on Saturday we will unpack and then ship out the same day. The other good news is we've been told we will receive a second shipment of Evo's by the end of next week. Trust me when I say we are doing everything we can to get these shipped to you as soon as possible.

Now here is the bad news, because of the time of day, we are not able to update our teams within our customer service groups so they do not have this latest info. Until tomorrow morning they might continue to say they don't have updated info. This is true, I'm actually home (it's almost 9:00 p.m.) and I'm sending this to you before I've updated our own team.

Thanks for hanging in there with us, I'm tired and shutting down for the night.

Is this still the 'where to buy thread' or ??

For those that upgraded with Best Buy I have a couple of questions:

1) Were you able to use the $50 gift card on the phone purchase? The reason I ask is because several people here said that they thought you could but a girl at BB said that you don't get the $50 until you pick up the phones then they email it to you?

2) Can you pay via credit card on the site to pre-order then change your payment method at the store? I ask because I would rather pay with cash at the store when I pick it up but I can't pre-order online via cash obviously. Same girl above said that whatever payment method you used had to be left that way. Doesn't sound like anything I've ever experienced with BB before so I'm hoping this girl just didn't know what she was talking about.

3) Did you have multiple lines to upgrade and did you have any issues? The reason i ask is because the way teh website is set up you have to upgrade each one as it's own separate transaction and you can't do 2 phones per order which is lame. I would rather do a single order with multiple phones as that would be less confusing but it seems they don't let it go down like that.

4) Will it let me upgrade the two primary lines of a family plan as well as the 3rd added on line for the same price? If so I will do all three at this time.

5) My local Best Buy has said that the official release is Saturday but they expected to get the shipment either later today or first thing in the morning so I'm assuming I'll be able to go into the store tomorrow to pick them up. Anyone have any more info on this?

Thanks for the help.
