Just forced the OTA update to my phone.............here's how.

Stock Verizon Gnex and unrooted....found an article on Droid Life this AM and did the exact same steps...worked on the 2nd try....GPS lock is nearly instant and auto-rotate is much quicker and 3g/4g hand off is quicker as well. Holding down volume button gives you they option to vibrate phone as well. We'll see how battery life is....

Worked for me, third try on wifi. Tried different sequences of data clear and force stop, but wondering if this whole thing has to be done in a certain time frame. Would make sense as to why it takes some people multiple attempts or are quicker with the second phone they try it on; might just be faster at going through the sequence (also would explain why some people had success with going back into settings via the pull down without going home first). So to any one who hasn't updated yet, maybe try it real slow a couple of times then real fast, and let us know the results.

Second try worked for me.

Stock GN LTE enabled. Charging while looking for update.

Too bad I will likely be jumping ship and taking advantage of the 14 day return policy to grab the G S3 on pre order in two days... I just cant stand the horrible battery life of this thing and the S3 has gotten rave reviews on the battery so far.

Thanks for the post... Maybe 4.0.4 will win me over and somehow i wont wana switch. I will miss this forum; seems to be a lot of people willing to help.

Thanks again.

Tried this and got the download but every time I try to install it, it fails and hives me the red exclamation point and I have to do a battery pull to reboot. Anyone else seen this? Am only rooted with unlocked boot loader but no other changes.

This is the exact same thing that is happening to me. I am also only rooted with and unlocked boot loader. No MODS or anything special. I have actually rooted my girlfriends Galaxy Nexus the exact same way that I have rooted mine. She has received the update without even forcing it, she just..Got it!! (Yes, we are both on Verizon as well).

The process goes well at first; In the Google Framework I clear the data, force stop, shut down, battery pull (I have also tried not pulling the battery), then going to Settings\About Phone\System Update. At this point it's already downloading when I get here (usually). Once downloaded, it prompts me to restart. My little android is standing up with some Blue squiggly stuff in his stomach and then about 1/4 the way through the install, he lies down with a red exclamation mark...:(

Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.
