Installed the update OTA two days ago, I am on three contract, intialy when I tried over pc it would freeze at the initializing process. Cant say really how much has change over a glance but games seem to be freezing a lot. Draw Something, Angry Gran, MIB3 are some which seem to freeze quite a lot they seemed to work fine before the update. But battery life has improved significantly, massive improvement there. I could dare to say close to 35% increase.
Cant figure out the cause for games freezing though, also it added Avast antivirus along with other psp apps i had previously uninstalled.

I'm on Orange and according to their website the update is available, not sure when they put that on, so I'll be giving it a go tonight

Sony Xperia S | help & support | Orange UK

I tried the update and pc companion says my phone is up to date :(, so I phoned Orange who advised that their website may be out of date and the best thing to do is check for updates on the phone and then you don't need to connect to the computer

Battery improves significantly. Took the phone off charger at 7AM and after few calls, emails, sms' and short internet browsing at 1PM I still find 92% of the juice left! (Before update with similar usage I would find me in sub 80%) Sure using display more would drain it harder but still a big improvement! The phone tells me it still has almost two days of charge left. Nice nice! :)

What app do u use to find the remaining charge?

I use "GO POWER WIDGET" to determine the battery usage, remaining battery percentage and number of hours remaining! its a very useful APP!!
when my Xperia S had firmware version 6.0.A.3.62: 100% charge = 18.44 hours of endurance(Maximum-when Screen Brightness is least, all external connections disabled)
After i updated to firmware version 6.0.A.3.73: 100% charge = 76.56 hours of endurance(Same conditions as tested with 6.0.A.3.62)

You can update to the latest firmware and get the maximum out of ur Xperia S battery..... :)

afer you update your phone , the apps you installed. was steal there?
and do i need to do any backup?

No Back up necessary. This is not an OS update. this s just a latest version of build, may be fixing some minor bugs or added new features. so the apps which u have installed remain untouched. even your contacts and settings are not altered.. so enjoy with ur new firmware update:cool: :)

Hi
I got an Xperia S a couple of months ago. It's the only non-Nokia phone I've ever owned in many, many years. I must say I'm impressed by many of it's features, and learning about Android. So, as far as the phone is concerned, I'm really pleased. The software is a disappointment though. I don't think PCC is even half as good as the Nokia Ovi stuff. I could do all sorts of editing of my contacts and music with Ovi, but PCC is so basic, I can only edit the phone contents as if the phone was a mass storgae device - very clunky!
Updating is a bit fraught too. If I get an update message from PCC on my home PC, I know that my machine will lock up after I plug the USB in whilst holding the volume down button. I've only ever managed an update successfully on my works PC. So, in conclusion. Nice phone, shame about the software. Oh, Deezer is great!!

OMG!! (!)

.75 now available for UK users with generic/SIM-free software.

How long have we had to wait?

Downloading now!

.75 seems to (from what I've read elsewhere) improve the sensitivity of the capacitive buttons, as well as including (obviously) the bug fixes from .73.

I can't believe I'm actually excited about this update, when it's not even ICS! :)
