Am I missing something? How do we mount the phone as a disk drive? When plugged into my pc I only get charge only, htc sync manager, usb tethering, media sync and internet pass-through. We can't mount it as a disk drive anymore? I want to be able to drag files over to the phone.

You will need to actually have an SD card plugged in, to get this option to appear.

Seems kinda strange not being able to access the phones internal memory with the USB cable.

Jeez, so are we really not able to access the internal memory via USB? I was hoping of loading movies and junk to the internal space because my SD card was full.

EDIT: Okay no, for whatever reason, to access the internal 10 GB, you have to switch the phone to Media Sync mode and it'll appear as a drive on your computer. Whew.. lol.

You would think it would be mentioned in the manual.
But I couldn't find it.
Only mentions sdcard for transferring music and nothing else.

I vaguely remember reading that UMS (USB Mass Storage) was removed in favor of MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) (don't quote me on that). The explanation being that when the phone's storage is mounted the phone itself has no access or control of it so something could do whatever it wanted to the storage. With MTP things are more secure, at least this is the gist I got when perusing the article. I can get a bit ADD when reading at times.

That's exactly what they did for ICS on the Galaxy Nexus. Other pre-ICS phones simply mapped the /sdcard internal partition so that it wouldn't mount via USB.

Either way, any of the wifi solutions to get to that partition are really best. Getting into MTP leads down the path of drivers for Windows, apps for OS X, and extensions for Linux - kind of a mess really. The Nexus gang gave up and as a group went to AirDroid, but there are many similar apps that I'm sure are equivalent.

I haven't done it with music, but my movies and pics where shown as if it was placed in their respective folder(s).

I don't think I understand your question entirely...

Easiest way:
- If you are using Windows 7 (for example), plug in your phone to your PC with USB cable.
- Click Media Sync.
- Create a folder if you want and put all your stuff in it.
- Enjoy

Note: You can get a better idea by going to "Settings"-> "Connect to PC". You can even enable to prompt you everytime you plug it into your PC.

I hope that helps.

sorry, let me try to explain better, whenever i do connect to my computer, no matter what setting i change it too, my computer does not let me acess my phone, it shows no option for accessing the phone anywhere on my computer. sometimes the settings for connecting via usb will defualt to charge only..

That is pretty strange and kinda familiar. The strangest thing that happened to me was after copying about 20 photos from LTEvo, my PC stopped recognizing it too. It would still charge and showed my phone in "My Computers" but clicking on the window would freeze. I couldn't find it to unmount in the Systems Tray either.

I just re-plugged it back in and wait. That has worked for me.

Sorry I didn't sleep much last night so my memory is off.
Ok here goes...

- I plugged phone in and you will see the attached "Connect to PC.png"

- Then you will be prompted a window like this attached "Evo Detected.png"

- Then double clicking on "Open device to view files" and you will see attached "Got access.png"

Note: I did not install any HTC drivers for this to work.

If you still don't see these things, well ... I tried.

my problem is my computer is not detecting it at all, it does not go to a windows prompt screen, nor can i find it anywhere on my computer

If you pull down your notification bar, you'll see a line with the usb symbol saying Charge Only - if you tap that, you'll get the selection dialog.

However - that only only works if your usb cable is good and you have the right usb drivers installed.

If you have another usb cable, try that - they do go bad. If it's not the cable, I'd suspect something with the drivers on your PC.
