Help I7500 xejc4

It's now been 6 hours since rebooting/unplugging and 5-ish hours since the report above...

battery level: 84 (up 1 % even though it's been unplugged the whole time...amazing!)
running: 19.5%
screen on: 8.9%

What is the difference between bootloader, pda, and phone files?

What happens if i only flash pda file?

I've just flashed my phone yesterday when the battery was 63%. And until now after 30mins phone call + about 10 messages + 20mins playing games and even some minutes of GPS. The battery now is 20%.

I don't know but maybe I'm lucky because I haven't met "no sleep issue".

I'm trying to do the same thing.
I've tried installing the sense theme via the recovery menu, but i cant seem to get it to work since it says busybox is missing.

how exactly do i install it? :\

In the modaco forum, someone put up an exe file for installing it. But when I tried, it didn't work, so I extracted it and looked at its contents.

It uses a batch file, so I tried to input that in cmd step by step, except the first step 'adb remount' didn't even work...

i use this to root How To: Root the Samsung Behold 2 / Samsung Galaxy (Updated 12/20/09) | The Unlockr
but with the new firmware it doesnt work
any good root workflow you could suggest me ?

so has anyone gone from jb2 to this firmware yet? I ve read 1.5 to 1.6's but i m on JB2 and am wondering if it is worthwhile.... as well for us Bell i7500L users... same procedure required as the jb2 odin flash?

I'd like to report on JC4.

It's fast. It doesn't get slowed down like JB2 used to.

However it still has the no-sleep bug. Note that I keep network location, GPS, share with Google and sync enabled all the time. I also make heavy use of the Locale application, with location dependent conditions for enabling wifi when at home, for instance.

It also has a tendency to spontaneous reboots, especially after interacting with the Locale app configuration...

It also has a tendency to spontaneous reboots, especially after interacting with the Locale app configuration...

No Spanish support either.

Yep. I had read that. I think I'll try disabling them for a few days, but I actually want the location services to work. Disabling an important part of the phone functionality in order to get the bug away just seems like brooming the dirt under the carpet...

Is it no sleep when gps is turned on only, will it not sleep after it is turned off? I use google maps pretty regularly, but i ve turned off locale, and network location, because even with the no sleep bug, on 3g its a pretty big battery drain. I use apn switch to turn on off, my 3g when i lock and put phone to sleep, have no real need for push services at the moment, so i just pull down my mail / notifications when i check it. I had the no sleep issue, but i ve turned off location aware on the browser and that resolved it for me after a reboot. So i guess i ll have to test and see if the gps is toggle-able without engaging the no sleep bug, as Skandaflo is right, that is a pretty big piece of functionality. Hopefully an official 1.6 or higher comes down the pipe soon to resolve these quirks...

Once flashed, phone booted in Russian. I once studied Russian so I finally found the good use for it!

As expected, there were no Australian APNs installed so manual enter it was.

First impression: Lock button is definitely more responsive than on JB2 as I had JB2 on my phone for the last couple of days and close to no 3rd party apps installed.

This is JC4, a 4th firmware of the month of March. What has been addressed in this firmware (or previous 3 versions this month) is my question as the SD notifcation bug is still there. Phone still makes sound each time its plugged into USB.

That is all I can report for now....

I have used this firmware version for a day and these are my observations:
1) Earphone Volume is as low as, if not lower than the volume in JB2(damn you Samsung :mad:

, how am I expected to listen to music on the Metro)
2) Battery holds up as good as IK4 for me i.e. around 60% after a day of moderate use(few calls, 1hr music, checking mail on edge)
3) Lock button is good(not much difference from JB2)
4) Available Memory 27MB (when idle with 2 widgets active(Digi Clock, Pure Grid Calendar))
5) General Usability: Slow, sluggish response to touchscreen (It wouldn't be an official Samsung Galaxy firmware if it did not display this unique trait, which has been a hallmark of all official f/ws till date

). However it is better than JB2 in this aspect. I haven't used the Market app as of now, however judging from my experience with the browser I expect it to perform as bad as in JB2.
6) Haven't come across the no sleep problem, but I have not used Location Services as of now.

Google Voice Search still doesnt work. It only worked the very first time I tried it but not after that. After taking the input microphone graphic simply closes and does nothing...

i have notice a improvement on the earphone sound. higher volume sound and improved bass. I have compared to a Galaxy from a friend with a older firmware. Finally i can use my phone to listen mp3!

music quality is certainly improved from jb2 but still volume is slightly less compared to ik5.
