This is what I see now when I try to do anything to my plan. I can't actually click the radio button to select.

After talking to 3 online reps, 2 phone reps, and one Twitter rep, I am confidant that Best Buy's pre-order locks in unlimited data as well. Afterall, their system has to call into Verizon's system to reserve the phone and plans.

Mod edit:
I've fixed the image:

No because you only pay 50 and they do not check upgrade status and that until the phone is available and you aren't agreeing to any terms like u do when you preorder through Verizon.

I didn't loose my corporate discount on my monthly bill after the upgrade, the receipt clearly showed the same discounted monthly amount as before the only thing I lost was the ability to get a corporate discount on the price of the device itself.

I think you misunderstood the discount discussion. They are taking away the discount they give you on your voice/text plan w/ the new shared data plans.

After talking with my brother (currently owns 5 Wireless Zone VZW franchises) he said that the unlimited plans will go away but he actually prefers the new plans because they did away with the 29.99 data plans and you just share data for all phones on your plan. This is good bc I can activate my gt7 and just share 8gb months between my wife and my smartys. He basically eluded to having as many data lines as you want just have to share the data. If this is accurate it will actually be better cost wise for my monthly bill.

This might be a naive question, and it's probably answered somewhere in the past 15 pages of this thread, but I figured I'd ask again. If I pre-ordered the phone through VZW online, is the phone shipped to my address by June 28th (or July 9th, or whatever day the phone is released)? Or can I go directly to the nearest VZW store and pick one up on release day?

Also, are the orders filled according to order date? ie a pre-order on June 9th will be filled before a pre-order on June 12th? Or is it location based?

Thanks in advance!

Whatever you want to believe. The fact is that, thanks to my own
Paranoia, I have confirmed the facts with supervisors of supervisors at Verizon. I have talked to 14 different people so far and they all have confirmed that Best Buy's pre-order will hold your unlimited in place. Because their system DOES call into Verizon's system.

They ship to your address (signature required). As to when, by July 9th; so it may be sooner.

I know everyone has "confirmed" that we will still keep our unlimited when we pre-order but I just got off the phone with a SUPERVISOR at Verizon and they had no clue. I directed him to the droid-life post that stated everything should be fine. He kept telling me once you activate after the 28th your unlimited will go away. I told him I didn't want to do his job for him but he should do as much research as possible as to not keep telling people the wrong thing.

I have seen a few questions about the Best Buy preorder. I know for a fact my answer below is correct.

Best Buy's preorder is a in-store preorder only. Best Buy will hold a phone for you when they show up in the store. They do not process your upgrade through Verizon until you are in the store with the phone in hand. Verizon will have no record of you upgrading until the release date when you go to activate the phone. Therefor you will not be signing a new 2 year contract until release day.

Since the S3 is coming out on or after the unlimited data cut off date (June 28th) you will not be grandfathered into the unlimited data.

Personally, I would cancel a BB preorder (you can even get your money back for the gift card - I just did) and order through VZW

* Also note I dont think you are guaranteed a phone on release day. They have limited stock and they usually have a first come first serve basis taken from the "preorder stock". 2 years ago I went to BB and they sold me a phone someone who preordered. It had been sitting there for about 2 days and since I was gonna buy it now they gave it to me.

It will be shipped by FedEx to your door. If you have unlimited data, DO NOT activate the phone by yourself! Call Verizon and have them step you through it, activating it for you. Every step of the way you want to make sure that your unlimited data plan is untouched. All you want to do is turn the phone on.

EDIT: BTW folks, I e-mailed Verizon for a written response to this unlimited data thing, as I don't trust CSRs on the phone... I want it in WRITING! I essentially asked for a "yes" or "no" as to keeping it and whether unlimited is locked in at pre-order, or activation.

Here's the WRITTEN e-mail response:

...I can certainly understand your concern about wanting to keep your unlimited data feature. Please know that you are able to keep your unlimited data feature as it is not a requirement when moving to a new device. For more information, please refer to our website at www.verizonwireless.com/shareeverything...

So I have it, in writing, that I can keep my unlimited data. As I advised Ouch above, I have been warned by several CSRs against activating the phone myself. I was told I need to CALL VERIZON to activate and make sure nothing on my plan changes. You will want to do that too :)

As a Radio Shack employee, I can tell you how we handle pre-orders, as it sounds similar to how people have described Best Buy's. We look up your account, and if it says you are eligible for an upgrade by the launch date (July 9), then we ring up a SKU in our system that tells them to send us a phone when they are available, and sell the customer a $50 gift card. We do NOTHING to your account when you pre-order. All of that takes place when you come in to pick up the phone, which would be after the June 28 cutoff, so you would lose unlimited data.

That is just how we do it, but it seems they do it the same. If anybody is near Blacksburg, VA and doesn't care about unlimited data, come pre-order from me!

Do you have an internal document stating the launch date is the 9th? I have yet to see an official launch date. Any article listing the 9th as the release date is just going by the shipping date on the Pre Order. Verizon is the only carrier that has not confirmed a date yet.
