I'll tell you what I'm NOT looking forward to: no dedicated HDMI port!

I desperately want to ditch my OG Inc and have already preordered the S3. It really sucks there's no dedicated HDMI port; one thing I was looking forward to was hooking my phone up to my TV to play emulators. Can't do that now if I want to use non-Bluetooth controllers (i.e. wireless Xbox 360 controllers)!

You hook the phone upto the tv with an adapter. It doesn't have a separate hdmi port. The usb port is used instead.

Are you sure? The Verizon variant of the Galaxy Nexus is thicker and different in some ways than the international version.

It the same exact phone externally. my girlfriend is high enough up the Sprint chain she has seen the device 3 times now. Once in may for the Sprint Samsung Convention that was the International version and she was just in Boston this week for the training on the U.S version ( sprint) they are identical. Only difference is the process, ram and the GUI. She said that is different and that makes sense because of the hardware. Our version is identical to the to other carriers its just the bloatware that ruins the phone.

If you want to hook your phone up to your TV you wouldn't need any wires, the phone is DLNA enabled. You just have to have a TV that supports that. Any decently new TV comes with DLNA. Live TV streaming is a stretch though.

I'm excited about finally getting my hands on the 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon processor. While it doesn't have dedicated memory for graphics, it's still a beast that puts the competitor's quad cores to shame while being a smaller 28nm and consuming less power. To be honest, I don't even really like playing games on my phone anymore now that I have a tablet; so I don't see any downsides to having the Snapdragon at all. In fact, I only seriously considered buying after learning that the North American version would have the Snapdragon. I'm not sure how much 2GB of RAM is going to make a difference but that's just gravy as far as I'm concerned.

I guess you could say I'm a bit of a Qualcomm loyalist. Being a relatively small SoC manufacturer, they do occasionally get outpaced by Nvidia and Apple but whenever they do have a new architecture to announce it's always a knockout punch. Plus, they're an American company and you gotta be proud that we're still number one at some things. (No offense to Texas Instruments)

Apple doesn't outpace anyone last I checked the a5 is a Samsung CPU and PowerVR GPU.

Well it seems that the Verizon reps are going thru training on the new share everthing plan. I talked to gal yesterday who just finished training. After being told by other reps over the past few weeks that I could keep my unlimited plan, this rep said I could, as long as I pay full price for the phone. If I use my upgrade with the discount I lose my unlimited whether I preorder or not. She said the goal is to get rid of ALL unlimited plans because some are using a lot of data. I told her that I had been told I would not lose my unlimited and she said that not all reps have been trained yet. The good news is that as far as the share everything plan goes we still have a choice between share everthing or just plain old indvidual data per phone.

They are going to have a revolution on their hands if what you are saying is true.

This is only true if you pre-order AFTER the 28th. If you pre-order between now and then, you will be able to keep your unlimited. Higher up people than a front line CSR have confirmed this. :)

I hope your right, but I'm worried. She said that her boyfriend was trying to figure out what to do because he is up for renewal and wants the S3 but ANY phone activated after June 28th that is purchased at the discounted renewal price has to go under a data plan that they offer of which unlimited is not. She said her boyfriend uses a lot of data and she's trying to talk him into the max before the 28th so he can keep his unlimited

So my upgrade is July 15 and I have unlimited data. Verizon rep told me I could get early upgrade before June 28 and keep my unlimited. Okay great , but apparently for any phone except the Galaxy S3? Can't pre-order it for my upgrade or I lose my unlimited. Tried again with different rep ..same thing. But I believe I read way back in this thread or on another forum that some people were getting early upgrade on Galaxy S3 pre-order and keeping their unlimited. Is there a way around this? It's the phone I was waiting to use upgrade on, very bad timing this June 28th date!

Well they are going to get a ton of returned S3's if that happens.

I agree. Its one thing to announce something that pisses off your customers. But lying to your customers to force them into something they dont want is just outrageous. If this happens, I'm switching to Sprint, getting the Evo 4G LTE and not looking back. Verizon will not get my money any longer.

Ok, just got off the phone with another rep. This one said the way she understands it is if you use your upgrade to get a new phone before the 28th you keep your unlimited no matter when you activate it. She said she was reading it right off the maunal. She claims that if you preorder the S3 that is when the upgrade occurs not when we get the phone in July. I hope she's right. So preorders are good to keep unlimited if done before June 28th. I told her if this is not the case when the phones come out she better take the rest of the month off because all she'll be talking to is ticked off people all day!

Thanks, was thinking the switch from 3G to 4G would hurt my all you can eat data.

It shouldn't, though some people are a bit worried about this sort of thing. Verizon has said those with unlimited can keep it so long as they upgrade unsubsidized, and switching from the X to the Bionic would be unsubsidized. However even though verizon has said people can keep unlimited they haven't discussed the 3g to 4g issue of it at all. While it has never been an issue before, I would recommend watching verizon threads on the new plans for at least another week to see if more details on your situation come out just to be safe.

Enjoy your 3G network.

I have an LG Ally right now with 3G (not very fast 3G either), and Im fine with the speeds on it. In my house I average 300 KB/S lol. Worst comes to worst, I'll use the PRL hack to get Verizons coverage. But Im almost 100% sure Verizon wouldnt just take away our unlimited data without telling us, so it most likely wont come to that.

Dont forget that people are essentially idiots (myself included). It sounds like you spoke with someone who just completed training and confused the information. Its been confirmed already that if you preorder before the 28th and activate after you still keep unlimited

Oh Please, when will these posts stop? Can everyone please stop sharing these stories?!!???!!!

PLEASE, if people are going to insist on posting stuff like this, please title your post

"hey, I'm going to tell you something that you know isn't true, but I wanted to tell you anyway, and it has been posted 100 times before, even though we have enough evidence that this is false"

Rep at local VZ store told me he believes the pre-orders will ship before the July 9/10th. - just his personal thoughts. But, has any phone pre-order really been in the hands of consumers before they're out in stores? Doesn't make sense.

I know that we all know that reps don't know "bleep". But sometimes it's nice to hear just to give encouragement. And eventually some rep is going to guess right

I am the same way. I recently just got a tablet so that is where mostly all my gaming happens since it sucks the battery down playing games on phones. I think a lot of people are underestimating the s4 processor just because it is dual core rather than quad core.

Iphone 4, original inc, evo, evo lte just to name some that had a preorder and arrived a little early. That is the whole point of a preorder is to get one before you can get them in store so you don't have to deal with going in store and risk not getting one.
