Hi,
I had to do a factory reset on my Captivate (stock Froyo) and ever since then I cannot connect it to any computer. When I connect the USB cable that came with the phone (and one which I purchased) I get a pop up on my computer that says USB Device Not Recognized. When I go into Device Manager there is the yellow yield sign on the USB device and when I double click on it there is a Code 43 message. I try to update the drivers but it tells me that the drivers that are there are the correct ones. I never get the option on my phone to Mount the phone. I have tried all the various settings (Ask on Connection, Mass Storage, USB Debugging) but can't even get Windows to recognize the device. I have uninstalled the drivers and downloaded new ones with the same result. I have installed Kies but it doesn't recognize my phone. I have tried this on 3 different operating systems: Win 7 64 bit, Win 7 32 bit and Win XP with the same result. the computer doesn't recognize the device.
any one else have this issue?

Two years of not being able to connect. After SCORES of installs, uninstalls, updates, plug, unplug, debugging, no debugging...

I just read the post about the USB cable possibly being bad. I don't have a new cable, so

I BLEW INTO THE USB PORT ON THE PHONE, AND NOW IT WORKS!

I don't believe it.

I guess that's why they put a door there. Close it and keep the crap out.

Augh!
