wow really no updates, this forum is like a desert

My attention has been elsewhere. Overhauling and tweaking of my connect has all but consumed my free time. I will get around too it. The community here just doesn't have alot of interest. Yes this forum is like a desert, but its the people that make it that way, so I've put this phone on the backburner, LG connect is my primary focus as of now.

I will put the deodexed stock rom up, but other than that I won't be doing a lot, I've lost interest in the attain. Geno is still going to do some work here I assume.

Yea, I love working with deodexed roms though, makes my job alot easier, and I think cwm is close to being done with. Thanks Chiwen for the base to work from. Just waiting for the tar ball.

once we get the tar we will be in luck.

why?

whats stopping you guys from doing it?

any way you cut it in order to make that tar for others to flash you are gunna need to mod your phone and make the images....

which means... even if he gives you the tar right now all you can do is flash it and then makes changes to your phone and then make a new odin tar for others to flash....

why not skip the bs crying and just deodex it? deodexing takes prolly 20-30 mins depending on how fast you get with the commands. rather than waiting the weeks for someone to provide you with the deodex base why havent you done it genovdot? youve done roms before

Just don't have experience with tars, I'm fairly new to the whole process. No scripting experience on top of it all. I can get it deodexed no problem, just need to learn how to pack the tar ball. Plus I'm gonna be working with windows 7 oppose to Linux. Just a few complications on my part. I'd rather wait for the cwm and begin there but if its gonna be possible to get a tar ball up pretty fast ill do it

I don't know why you wouldn't just run linux from a disc or usb drive so you could use Archive Manager, but if you insist on doing it completely from Windows you have to use cygwin.

Deodex the rom, rip it from the phone (factoryfs.rfs...a.k.a. stl10). Install Cygwin, the command to make the tarballz is:

tar -H ustar -c factoryfs.rfs > package_name.tar

If you are making a package with a new kernel (zImage) as well the command is:

tar -H ustar -c factoryfs.rfs zImage > package_name.tar

Basically to add more than one item to the tarball you just type them one after the other, separated only by a space.

Example:
tar -H ustar -c factoryfs.rfs recovery.bin zImage > package_name.tar

-OR-

tar -H ustar -c Item1 Item2 Item3 > package_name.tar
